I haul trailers out of the factories in Indiana and I dont see how anyone would buy those trailers. If the Manufacture cant even put a quality license plate bracket on the trailer, why would you buy their product?

Got any alternatives?

Just ordered the hinged one...will let you know the results in about a week.

Just got the holder...very nice piece made of polished stainless. Next free day to work on it is Friday or Saturday (hate it when my job gets in the way).

Did you get it installed? Got any pics? Does it hinge both ways?

I looked at piano hinge at Home Depot and that doesn't seem like it will work unless I mount something to the tag because the holes in the hinge are too near the hinge to mount the tag directly to it.

You were essentially saying you haul junk from the manufacturers in Indiana to us purchasers and you wouldn't buy one. Do you encounter alot of problems with new trailers when you are delivering them? A license plate holder is pretty minor and mine is fine, its just low and will get bent at some point. My point was, what alternatives do we have other than buy one...or go without.

As far as screwing the tag to the door, that could be a challenge due to getting electricity to it for illumination.

I have a problem with the trailers with the hard plastic tabs for the plates that snap off easily, that are mounted under the bumper and are basically the lowest point of the trailer. How can the Manufacture not know that they break easily. He just doesnt care.

Finally got it mounted up. Trimmed off the existing holder off off the light so I still have illumination for the plate. Mounted the holder to the bottom of the rear bumper/frame. Its pretty hefty so I dont think I will have any problems of it blowing up and not having it visible going down the road. Dogs definitely wont break this one. It seems to beg for a license plate frame of some kind to fill up the holder. It was so shiny I almost didnt want to cover it
