On my rig the manufacturer mounts the below the tailgate (for obvious reasons), but i know in off road situations i am gonna rip that sucker off!

has anyone found an alternative for a plate mount? i refuse to drill holes in the body but i would like the clean look of a license plate mounted off to one side on the tailgate itself.

thanks in advance!

You need to get one of the hinged metal units that you find at a semi-truck shop. Thats my plan...right now mine is held on by one orig screw on the bracket and a zip tie. My dog ran under the trailer and snapped it.

Does the back look like this?

If it were my rig, I'd look at using the upper middle running light position on the back for the license plate. One might have to customize a frame for the plate to fit those existing holes, but the right wiring is there for lighting the plate.

And it'd sure be "in plain view" for anybody that's looking for it!

Our plate mount was part of the left running light.
We lost it some time somewhere and didn't realize it until we were 3 hours from home at a campground.
Luckily the notary/auto tag office was open and hooked us up with a new plate.
Had Pocono RV mount it to the bumper/frame below the ramp door.

I'm thinking about having a vinyl one made and sticking it to the ramp door.

My buddy used to make them for nice cars that had no front plate mount so he didn't have to drill hole to mount.

I took a piece of piano hinge.large industral type and bolted it to the plate sanwich style then to the frame. I drug it through a lot of desert and never lost it,did ding it up a lot.
