We currently have a 2008 Gulfstream Tourmaster. Upgrade coach or get a boat instead? What would you do, advice?

Azimut 40

or

Newmar King Aire

This is a trick question, right?

Do you already have a boat? Is it something you have done before? Do you love it? Have water front property? As I live in the middle of a city now, we got rid of our boat. Although I have the best of both worlds, can stay on my brothers.

Does the boat come with that "accessory" on the bow standard? My wife probably won't let me get in now.

Hmmm........ Well, normally I would suggest go both, But, I did. I bought a Seavana 60, European built. Can't blame you on the Azimut, European boats are built for the sea, not just lakes or coastal running. Kept mine for nearly three years then sold it to an Austrian where it now resides in Sydney,
Boating isn't what it was many years ago. Too many rules, anchoring only in designated locations, enviormental tree huggers hate you just for owning it, oil changes every 150 hours or about 350 miles, fuel up at $3 to $4k, inexperienced boaters everywhere, depreciation faster than a falling anchor, resale market flooded with craft, and much, much more. Other than that.........I liked it!
I would go King Aire myself. Rule and rights have not changed much for motoring, on land that is. Good luck with your choice.

Is that one of the choices, keep the 2008 coach and buy the boat? Good choice but that boat looks like it would be the price of both coaches together.

I agree with some of the above, you have a coach so go with the boat. However, I would change the boat selection to something with a mast and canvas.

Lug Nut brought up some good points. When diesel was just under $2.00/gal, it used to cost me $700 to travel 140 nautical miles and rent a slip for two days. After boating season, I would jump in the motorhome and camp about 90 miles from home and total cost would be about $70.

Also, there are many times a boat cannot be used due to weather. Mainly the wind kicks up the water and it is just too rough to have any fun. If you decide to get a boat, jump up in size to 48-50 feet and you will be much happier with handling at dock and on the water. IMHO weight is a good thing especially with a flybridge boat since they are more subject to wind. A boat must weigh approximately 1000lbs/foot for good handling and sea keeping abilities.

take the most expensive thing you can do to your MH and multiply it by 10X for boating Of course flying takes the most expensive thing you can do on a boat and multiplies it by 10x

For me my boat is a Nordhavn 64. But then my coach payment would be less than the moorage for such a beast.

MH are more useable in more places. Full timing though could be done both ways. Both are fun, what does the "Admiral" want?

Thanks for sharing both possible options. We use to own and operate a boat as well, but nothing in the range of what you are considering. The King Aire is a superbly built coach and Newmar has a fine reputation. Only you can decide what is best for you.

If I had the wherewithal, I would boat, RV and fly (I am a licensed FAA Private Pilot); however, wishful thinking will get me nowhere. Follow your instinct. Best of luck in your decisionmaking.
