Check the screws regular but don't over tighten them, just kind of snug them. When I bought my trailer new the screws were loose but I didn't know it for about a year by then the damage was done. Thank goodness Jayco covered it and replaced the complete roof and front cap. It don't take long to do the damage but it can take a while to find out about it. Then it gets expensive.

Had my RV since April 2010 and have done nothing to my AC bolts. I will only tighten these if there is a leak. So far nothing is amiss so I have decided there is no need to tighten the gasket unnecessarily. That said this thread is useful to bear in mind.

I'll be honest, if i were you, i'd give them a little snugging up...i'm a Jayco fan, and one of the biggest issues with water damage on their hybrids has been the lack of maintenance on the roof, and the A/C unit. It's a simple procedure, remove the 4 screws holding the cover, and the bolts are right there....when you start doing searches on the net, thats when you see how many have had water leak issues around the A/C unit

I hope to have it home this weekend for a wash and some more mods so I may well follow your suggestion and have a look after all. Won't take any time compared to the mods.

....and get up on the ladder and check the caulking between the rubber roof and front fiberglass panel....that Texas sunshine might be a little tough on it ( send some of that sunshine up here to Ontario )

Ahhh.... I know I forgot something! I will try and do that tomorrow. Meanwhile today I installed a separate satellite TV cable jack outside. Now I can hook up my directv and my roof top antenna at the same time without passing the cable through a gap in the tenting ....

We had this problem within our first year of our RV. And since we were still under warrarty we let our dealer tighen the bolts and they added locktite to the bolts. Second year with no problems but we do check the RV monthly even during storage months. Plus we keep two damprid containers for mosture in the RV.
