Gonna down size from our 19' TT to our A liner. A while back I posted about holding back the TT on long steep grades and the advice was get a new TV. I don't want a new TV, we tend to keep things forever, like the 74 VW Super beetle my wife bought new. I've had the truck since bought new in 05 and it looks and runs like new plus We already own an A Liner Sportliner and like it. Went across the USA in it and where very comfortable so it's time to sell the "big trailer" and just use the "little guy". Why'd I tell you this? I don't know, just wanted to write something I guess.

I also just recently downsized to a A Frame Hardside. Really like it and it's plenty big enough for the DW and myself in our upcoming retirement days.

I am on the otherside of this way of thinking. We have been running the roads in our Starcraft 14RT OFF-ROAD POPUP for past few years and now both of us are thinking we might want to get something in the 20-24 foot size with hard sides.
I really hate to give up the POPUP camping as it is surely easy to get around anywhere in. We can actually drive through McDonalds with it haha... Have no problem staying or camping anywhere we chose. Can gas up at any fuel stop. Can park in any parking lot and go inside and eat lunch at Shoneys...
Our POPUP has all the comforts of home including sit down shower and cassette potty. Has all the electronics just like the big rigs. We watch full blown HDTV anywhere we go (usually for free using OTA antenna)... With only the two of us we have all the room we need. I do admit it may be a bit tasking getting setup with everything all packed away. Once you get the system down it isnt really all that bad but every inch of the POPUP is used for storage of all the things you want to bring along with you. Our saving grace is the bed of the f150 pickup and the use of the 5x8 front deck that comes along with our OFF-RoAD POPUP.
One of the biggest things is we get 20-21MPG pulling the POPUP with our 2010 F150 truck. It actually gets the same gas mileage whether we are pulling the POPUP or not.
Having to deal with WD hitches, Sway control, tongue weight, gas stations, always calculating "can we get into this place ok", and all the other things with the bigger trailers sort of makes us wonder why we are even thinking about going to a bigger trailer. We have put a good 60-70K miles on our POPUP since running the roadsthe the past few years.
I do have to admit that we are envious being around the bigger trailers and how nice they are all setup. Got to draw the line somewhere I guess... We follow my brother-in-law some on our trips and he is pulling the big Montana trailer - You certainly have to do alot things to keep that thing afloat. The big rigs take a special breed for sure...

I've had the 23' hardside and the little popup. Got rid of both and now I'm pretty happy in a 16' hardside. I have admired those A frames, and thought hard about a Rockwood before buying my KZ, but the KZ had more comforts and cost $1000 less.
Yep, I'm pretty happy. Only... um.... lately I've been wondering if a truck camper wouldn't be even better, so I can travel to more out-of-the-way places. Why does the grass always look greener 'over there'?

We're thinking of going the other way. We have a 99 Aliner that we have had since 2001, but as we near retirement age we would like something we could go South for a month in the Winter. We found a 96 Hi-lo that needs a lot of work on the Hi-lo forum and I have 5 years to get it ready till we retire. Here's a you tube video of the Hi-lo we bought Our Hi-lo

I enjoy and use both. It is great to have options, we use different trailers depending on the trip. We keep both of them stocked and ready to go.

We, too. Our Pup is for boondocking on river banks, canoe trips and fishing expeditions. Our TT is for touring. I like having the hard side as a mobile condo and don't even call it a "camper." We camp in the pop up.
