You know our RV have a common name. ITS F.O.R.D. fix or repair daily. It does seem that every time we take our rig out there is some thing that needs to be fixed and if we didn't have these issues, what would we do with our time, other than sit and Munch on junk food. Besides, it keeps our brains in a FIX IT MOD, and active. And it generates Comradery, like getting to know your neighbor. So just chill and except it as something to do.

Keep a full tool box with nuts bolts and duck tape available

Keep a fuse set and elect meter available

For the noncritical wait till you get home.

Checkout and repair everything immediately after returning home

Checkout and repair everything a week before your next trip

I find repair frequency not much different than house or two cars or outboard boat or computer or wife

Well you had to know that if you dissed a Ford us owners would have to stand up right?
I bought my first FORD MH used and the coach was well 'taken care of' by the previous owner. Baring the typical plastic levers, etc. and the occasional tornado that took the awning.....she served me well.

I read the posts about people naming names of motor companies and blaming them for all the breakdowns/repairs and I always want to ask, "Did you buy it used AND did the previous owner take care of it properly"? You get what you get and if it was not maintained by the previous owner IMHO, JMHO there are going to be more repairs. And that goes for the current owner also if they don't stay on top of things.

If I couldn't fix it myself, I would not own a house, a car, a boat nor RV,....UNLESS I was a multi-millionaire. I don't know how people do it.

RVer = Repaired Virtually Everything Recently
FORD = Fix Or Repair Daily
JEEP = Just Empty Every Pocket

You get the idea...

I had a friend tell his adult son "that if a guy isn't pretty handy with the tools this hobby gets pretty expensive pretty fast." I think of that everytime I have to tear into something. DW says it is her duty to break something everyday to keep me occupied.

You guys missed one: Found On Roadside Dead. Ask me how I know.

Also there's Ruin Vacation.

Sure beats sitting at home bored while the lawn wants to be mowed.

RV could also stand for Restoration Vehicle. It just seems like you have to keep restoring it.

The only thing worse than keeping up an RV that you live in occasionally and really want everything to always work ... is a stick house that you live in around the clock and really get tired of stuff constantly needing repair or replacement. I don't see how folks that can't fix things can live in a house!

We really relish our RV trips so we can finally get away from the responsibilities and headaches of "normal living".
