You'll have to back up the support that holds the tank

Looking at the photos, it appears the plastic cover is bowed in around the jack. On my trailer, I have a very short tongue and I put a truck box on it. I had to slide everything forward and the plastic covers wouldn't fit. I bought some vinyl covers but they were a pain. Then I figured my PUP ran 30 years with no cover so I pulled the covers and only put them on in the winter--I use two individual vinyl covers for that. Can't see what it hurts leaving them out--they did it for years.

If you can, place the batteries in front of the tanks so the tanks are further from the jack. That should have given enough room to install a hard tank cover. By repositioning the two, the tanks where the battery is now and the battery where the tanks are now, should work. May have to extend the cables if there isn't enough slack to make the switch. That's a lot cheaper than a power jack. Good luck. Let us know the outcome.

we have a 98 trailite 17.
same as bantam i believe. ours came with the tanks and spare on the tongue, the battery was in the side compartment, lh side of trailer.
i also wanted a cover. heres what we did.

replaced top crank for a front facing one.
moved the tank platform back one and a half inches. easy with a drill.
removed the tire carrier.
installed plywood sheet and then the tool box. lots of room for the ugly stuff.
the cover we bought was for thirty pounders (was hard to find a hard cover for the twentys) i cut about two inches off the bottom of the cover, just below the flange, so it still snaps in place and holds tight. to be sure i put a bungee cord on it.

i bought a spare tire carrier for the rear bumper but the bumper is not strong enough for it , too much bounce, so the tire goes inside underneath the bench seat flat, we have the u shaped dining area
when its placement bothers me enough i will go get a new bumper that can actually take a bump.lol

hope this helps

As a wild guess you could probably put a cover over both tanks AND the UltraFab power front jack. Have to turn the jack so the motor would be inside, not at the front. Would require remoting the jack toggle switch (I'd parallel it).

Or as several have noted mount the tire on the rear bumper and push everything back.

I vote for mounting the tire on the bumper.

You'll actually lose a considerable ammount of tounge weight along with sliding everything back.

Tire on bumper...tanks behind battery.

Wow... thanks guys for all your input. Sounds like a nice project LOL
1) I don't think I can mount the spare tire on the bumper because ours is pretty flimsy as bigfooteriam pointed out.
2) How much work is it to move this stuff around as you guys suggest? There is no welding/cutting involved, right?
3) I honestly only wanted the cover because my wife thinks it would look better Maybe I don't even need to worry about it.

We have the same problem butI have looked into the vinyl cover this week and it has a board insert for additional stiffness across the top on the double tank. The top zips open so it is easy to get to the tanks.

I agree with llowllms swap the battery with the tanks. That should not be hard to do at all.

I have same trailer as you. However, my mounting is different. I have twin 20 pounders closest to the tongue crank followed by spare tire then two batteries closest to the trailer. Yes, the tank cover is a snug fit between jack and tanks. This is good as it keeps the cover from flying up in the wind. Also, as a side note, I drilled a big hole in the back of my cover to allow access to tank regulator after running one tank dry in the middle of the night and being unable to access to switch as the bunk was down so could not lift the cover. This is a simple job if you know a welder. If not just buy the cover and go from there. Best of luck.
