In 2010 I camped in the "Standard" parking lot, which was dry camping and just fine. The "Premium" spots cost more and had water & electric, but the electricity was only 30 AMP and the generators making it were stationed in the middle of the premium area and ran 24/7.
The balloons came overhead one morning and it was a beautiful site. But where you park doesn't determine if the balloons will fly by - the wind does.

Thanks to all for your input. Made reservations today for VIP East and requested fence parking (no guarantee). We will be going with another motorhome and you folks talked me out of the tour, thanks again.

Good move and you'll really enjoy it.
Fence parking? Likely not as it is usually taken/held for Handicapped folk. When we go to check in as soon as they see our Handicapped tag they pull us out of line and take us directly to the front (fence) row. Last year some other folk with us were put behind us i.e. not allowed on front row. But it is all great viewing anyway.

Since the OP booked already, I thought I would be okay to post here rather than start a new topic. I am on the road and completely forgot to book.
From this thread, I understand that I should book VIP East and requested fence parking.
What I don't know is what dates to pick for the best experience. We will have been on the road for two months and will plan our itinerary around being there on what ever days are suggested.
Thanks for the help.

Paul,
I would suggest you skip the opening weekend as that is the most crowded and more is happening the rest of the week.
I am going this year leaving the MH in WI and taking my van/balloon.
I have been flying there for a number of years and recommend it as a site to be seen.

Hi AeroP
What color is your balloon. We will look for it.
We have been only been to one small balloon festival in RI, so we really have no idea what to do. How many nights should we stay? What day do you suggest we come in?
Thank you for the help.

My balloon has 10 colors, it is a racer, which means it has a football shape, not the normal balloon shape.
If you don't like crowds show up on Monday and you will not miss much
and stay thru Sat or Sun and you can walk around the balloons as they inflate. You will have a great time.

Been there a couple of times and had a great time the first trip. The second trip they canceled a couple of the day events because of the weather. We didn't reserve anything, we just drove up to the Sandia Casino and parked right in their parking lot. Many motorhomes park there and they have a shuttle to the Balloon events which are just short drive to. Or you can even see the balloons right from your coach as they ascend. Or you can drive your toad like we did to where all the venders are and mingle with the group.
We liked parking in the casino parking lot because it was within walking distance to where you could also go golfing, eat or gamble.
