I am headed this summer from Needles to Flagstaff,Az. I have driven over #68 several times with just a truck and it's ok but I will be hauling a 29' trailer with me this time and do not want to take that route towing. Is #40 a better route? That hill on #68 is scary, is #40 as bad or worse? Just looking for the most friendliest route. I have a dodge ram 1500, Thank you all.

If you don't feel confident about going over 68, then by all means take I-40. It's longer but the only significant grade is that right before you get to Kingman and you will have to go over that even if you go with 68. You shouldn't have any problems with that other than slowing down. There are always plenty of big rigs that are going slow and you can slip in behind one of them.
Hope this helps

When in doubt about which route to take, the interstate will almost always have the easier path. Interstates "normally" only have 6% grade, with few exceptions. State highways will more than likely equal or exceed that in the same area.
Interstates will lack the scenic aspect of any trip.

One thing I would check on is road construction. Last year between Daniel and the junction below Jackson , I don't recall the name) they were doing a lot of bridge construction.
there was also construction between the same junction and Alpine.

You Are talking about the hwy from
Bullhead City To Kingman Az
I dont how long ago it was when you drove hwy 68 from Bullhead City but we use it all the time going to bullhead it is a very good 4 lane div. hiway about 6% grade towing a jeep
uphill i dont need to shift down climb it about 30 to 40 mph
downhill I coast down in high when I get to 52 mph I touch brakes to slow down to about 40 mph do this all the down the hill

P.S. by going thru Bullhead City you can save a lot by getting gas in Bullhead City

If you're starting out in Needles, I-40 should be faster & easier. By the miles, it's 5 miles longer to take I-40, but according to Google maps the route through Bullhead City and on up Hwy 68 will take 25 minutes longer. The grades on I-40 are easier than hwy 68.
We have a vacation home in Bullhead City, so I'm out that way a lot and have gone both ways many times. Hwy 68 is not a bad road - I've done it towing my 7,000 lb boat, and in the DP towing the Jeep, both ways.
