Has anyone with an older HTT had a need to rewaterproof the vinyl tenting? I need to redo the window covers (yes, only the window screen covers) but can't find a product for vinyl coated fabric. Starcraft used Aqualon, which is a vinyl coated product. I read Aqualon is no longer made.

303 Products probably has a solution for this problem. We've used on tentage for years.

Thanks Chuck but I talked to the guy at 303 early last week, definitely not for vinyl products. His advice is to replace the fabric.

I would try Aqua Armor before replacing the ends.

How is the fabric leaking? Don't confuse condensation for leakage.

Vertical tentage need not be completely waterproof anyway.

in the 6 years i've been on Hybrid forums, i have never heard of someone needing to re-coating the vinylized canvas, to make it water-resistant again.

the vinylized canvas doesn't lose its ability to shed water, when the actual main causes like this, are condensation or seeping seams.

It's not condensation, when it rains for prolonged periods the lower portion of the zipped up window covers gets soaked (just like a pup tent, it gets a darker wet looking color) and the water sort of oozes through the fabric. It started 2 falls ago during a 3 day heavy wind and rain storm at the beach. I thought it was the stitching as you could see where it had shrunk over the years so I seam sealed them which helped but only to a small extent. I'm thinking it may be the Reflectix that we put between the screen and the zip up cover. I read where Aqualon looses it's water proofing when it gets scratched. MAYBE the reflectix has scratched the vinyl over time.
The only other thing is the zip up covers do not seem to be the same makeup as the sidewalls and especially the roof material. It's much more ply-able. I am certainly going to try applying something to it before going extreme and having it replaced.

This looks like it's worth trying, as it's water based it can't hurt. Thanks

After thinking about it I guess I can't really say for sure it's not condensation, just that it's only happened when it rains heavy, and only the windows (along with the pillows and your feet) get wet, and it sure looks like tents do in the rain. As I can't do anything till spring, I can try hitting it with a hose in the driveway and see what happens. A little too cold for this now.

Our pup did that and I used a tent sealant that wally world sells. It comes in an aresol can and I would spray the inside of the tent end at the begining of each season.
