Hi..Is the Toyota Tundra 4.7L V8 with max towing of 6800 lbs big enough to pull a 2008 Starcraft Antigua 235SBS..which has a GVWR of 5000 lbs and and Unloaded vehicle weight of 3700 lbs ????? We will be traveling from California to Yellowstone National Park. Thanx

I think you will be fine looks like you are well within the ratings. My sisters tundra with the 4.7 pulls their 26 ft hornet fine even though its pushing their limits, though they would have been happier with the 5.7L engine they mostly run flat lands to the coast and it is a plesure to tow with.

I drive a 2011 Tundra with 4.7L and pull the X20E with a GVR of 4750 and she handles it well, we have a number of steep hills along the Missisippi River Bluffs and it handled those without any issues.

I think you'll find basic handleing to be okay, braking etc fine, but if you're at all like me you're going to hate the lack of power. Just be prepared to keep the engine rpms high, and you'll get there and back okay, as long as you aren't in any hurry.

we drove from Napa to YNP, in '09, with our Roo which weighs about 5000lbs., loaded for camping.
there will be some mountains to get over but you should be fine.
i agree that the 4.7 is famous for lack of power but you'll just have to go slow.

What year Tundra are we talking about here? the late-model tundra's have a 5.7 or (as of 2010) a 4.6 liter v8 (4.0 v6 is an option, but i've never come across a tundra so equipped)--s this an older truck OP has?

07-2009 were available with either a 4.7L 5 speed, or 5.7L 6 speed.
In 2010 they discontinued the 4.7L and introduced a new 4.6L, and the 4.0L that is available in the Tacoma, FJ, and Forerunner.

I have a 2001 Toyota Tundra V6 5 Speed which has a max towing capacity of 5000lbs and we towed our Starcraft 195CK which has a dry weight of 3800 to Yellowstone from the Seattle area without any problems. Was able to climb Snoqualmie Pass without any problems. We've done the passes to Eastern Washington a number of times, we just kept it slow and easy.
The only problem that we have had in the passes, was the bozo that didn't secure his load and dropped a load of decent sized firewood logs right in front of us.
You will be just fine with your V8.

I pulled my 21SSO with a 2003 4Runner with the 4.7L V8 and it pulled just fine. We did slow a bit on the big hills but, just a bit. I never felt that I was holding anyone back or an any kind of a dangerous situation with my set up.
As I recall, the SSO had about a 5000lb GVW and dry it was around 3700. I don't have the specs any longer but this is what sticks in my not so sticky brain.
I picked up a heavier trailer and traded up to the 5.7 Tundra. This thing has plenty of power and actually gets better mileage than my older 4.7. I loved the 4Runner and hated to see it go. My vote would be that you can pull your hybrid with the Tundra. Just don't be a big hurry.
