OVER 5 MONTHS driving the Pan America Highway south from McAllen, Texas to the tip of South America in a Ford Diesel with Lance Camper! Fantastic trip, seeing all the countries enroute, and the people in the small towns.
There were the volcanos, lakes, glaciers, waterfalls, Magellan Straights, Petrified Forests, Panama Canal, Indian Ruins, River boats, Jungles, Deserts, Sand dunes, Penguins, Seals, Storks, Eagles, Condors,Mountains, Snow covered Peaks, Hot Springs, Flamingos, Mines,...and ++++++++++++ almost mind blowing!!!!!!
This year the trip is going to be done in reverse -- Argentina to the USA..starting in Argentina, meeting in Texas, and shipping together from Houston.
SOME MORE NEW NOTES: INSURANCE NOW IS PURCHASED AT THE BORDERS INSTEAD OF BUYING A $3000 POLICY IN THE US. AVERAGE PRICE IS ABOUT $30 A VEHICLE. ALSO THE CROSSING IS NOW MUCH QUICKER THAN PREVIOUS.
NO MORE PROBLEMS IN COLUMBIA, IN FACT, IT WAS THE FAVOURITE OF MANY BECAUSE OF THE FRIENDLY PERSONS.
I WILL TRY TO GET BACK AND GIVE MORE DETAILS LATER, STILL UNPACKING..

Gosh Norman, you've been here 10 1/2 years and have only posted 9 times? With all of your travel info? Fill us in!
Yep, actually drove to all of these places---in the last eight years. Missed Rhode Island and New Jersey.

additional note: over these 10 years I have made over 10 rv trips from north american and alaska to south america.... some were BIRD WATCHING, others were SMALL VILLAGES AND LOCAL COLOR, and some were testing GPS and maps. I don't know if I am permitted to put "links" on this posts or not? most forums do not allow?

You are not allowed links to sites which provide you, a family member, or friend a monetary return, directly or indirectly. There are a few other restrictions, but the above is the basic rule.

Well, I have had a bit of time to sit down and start a blog, never thought I would do this, but now that I have started, it has really become a time consuming project! I would rather spend my time traveling, but I am also working on re-vamping my RV, and helping a friend with another RV designed for the extreme overland traveling.
This blog, which I have started is by NO means more that 40% finished. I first put in the different destination points ( and NOT all of them, because I want to keep some of them UNSPOILED), then, I have written just a brief comment on each.
The photos also are very un-complete and not described fully..anyway maybe you can get a little better idea of the expedition. the blog is. http:/blog.travelpod.com/travel-blog/trekamerica/1/tpod.html It also has a video-slide feature, but I am not sure what the address is for that, but I will let you know as soon as I figure it out.. Hope this answers your interest a little bit, over the past ten years.
I am happy to share this a abit.

Thanks for sharing. We are planning a similar trip in a year or two (saving up right now).
I notice you appear to have the same truck we do (down to the paint scheme and hub caps). Any thoughts you could share on spare parts, repairs, upgrades,etc... that would be specific to the truck. Was there any issues finding replacement tires that fit?
