Has anyone had any experience using the Diesel Fuel Reformulator? I read about some on a Gas Buddy website, and was curious if it worked. Thanks, Ronnie

I have never heard of it.
What is it supposed to do?
What is in it?

EDIT: I found the MSDS for "Bully Dog Fuel Reformulate".
83-87% Naphtha
13-17% Normal Butanol
2.2-2.5% Picric Acid Technical

8 ounces treats up to 320 gallons of diesel fuel. How can that low of a concentration do anything?

Another snake oil, IMO.

I used that stuff. Buy it at any Walmart. Keeps your diesel from gelling in the winter. Unless I knew I had #2 diesel in my vehicle I poured it in the tank. I use it in both my tractors because the diesel in my storage tank is not #2 diesel. Works great.

I wouldn't call it Snake Oil, but sure adds to the cost of a fill up if you stay on the recomended program. Don't know about You Guy's but I used a lot of diesel fuel last year and I only use Howes additive when I store the coach for a few months before I fill it up. I often wonder about contaminated fuel at different locations and that's the reason I always use the same Truck Stops. I do change all 3 of my fuel filters @ 5000 mile intervals for piece of mind though.

I use diesel fuel additives for two and only two conditions:

1. A BIOCIDE if storing diesel over 2 months in the summer or three months in the winter. Also store with diesel tank full to minimize condensation.

2. An ANTI-GEL if storing summer grade/#2 diesel when temperatures are expected to drop below freezing.

Only product we ever use is Power Service. Used it my entire career driving big trucks. I know it works and they are color coded to help pick out the one you want. We put in the white before a trip or at the first fill. Their biocide is great too. You can get it fairly cheap at WalMart.

FYI:
Power Service MSDS:
Composition: Trade Secret
Ingredients:
Petroleum Distillates
Alkyl Nitrates
Aromatic Hydrocarbons
Glycol Ether

The above applies to 18 different Power Service part numbers; 12 in the 1:400 ratio, 3 in the 1:1000 ratio, and 3 in the 1:1500 ratio.

I think that is what he was referring too generically. I also use the brand Power Service.

If the fuel in your storage tank is not #2 diesel, what is it?
