AARP offers 8-10 different plans, depending on how broad coverage and monthly payments you want.
My 90-yr mom has used one for 15+ yrs and no issues with them, other than rates bumping upward a little each yr. She also has their RX plan.
Kaiser seems to have very good rep, if they have facility close to him.

If you plan to travel a lot AARP United Healthcare covers you in all the states and some out of country coverage.

We have a Medicare Advantage plan it is much better than the supplements. We have had it for 3 years and love it.

We fulltime and DH has a plan F through AARP. He has some challenging medical problems, and we have not had to pay a penny through hospitalizations, doctor's visits, etc., in different states. He has had it for five years.

There are some Medicare Advantage plans that have ZERO premium beyond the Medicare premium. Ours is that way.

I have the same thing with my Humana plan. Zero premium beyond the Medicare premium. It sure is nice to know I am covered no matter what happens to come along.

Most important thing is to make sure you get one that covers nationwide and of COURSE that meets the particular needs. My plan through BCBS is not cheap but I haven't paid a cent in medical costs for years and the drug coverage has never had any donut hole (which is very important if you take a LOT of medications). Doesn't qualify as cheap however and I doubt if ANY of the really GOOD plans will be anything but expensive. Mine IS cheaper than some of the offerings I've seen from AARP however.
