Wasn't sure how to put the Subject line for this question >>
Another RV Park, Same problem - decided to leave dish at home site AND
Since we are planning to be here for two months ... Went to RV Park office for a website where we could find the almost 50 tv channel program listings for the park-provided TV System (in this case DirecTV)
Cannot find the listing on DirecTV website ... do these rv parks set up their own special channel listings for the park with different numbers for the individual channels ?
Just looking for some insight ... OTHER THAN to always bring our dish !
BTW we are at Willamette Wine Country RV Park (was Portland-Dayton RV Park) ...

Not sure I understand the problem. You have 50 channels but no listing? I guess you can channel surf and then write down each name/number on a paper?

That has happened to us a couple of times. Usually the office tells you to go to Channel __ and there will be listing of shows/channels/time. Most of the time we are given a list, but there are a few.... Other than that, just surf and write down the channel # station.

We have a list of channel numbers/channels - like 24 is A & E, etc. but the sheet of channels/numbers do not coincide with what the website shows ...
Like I said channel surfing is the only way to find out what program is on when .. or next .. just frustrating when one is looking for a certain program to watch.
Just wondered if this was a common or uncommon frustration for y'all out there.
Can really see why people choose to travel/stay with their DirecTV or Dish satellite dishes .. which we will be doing I am sure instead of depending on the rv park's version of Comcast or ? or their version of satelite ...
We are full-timers and will certainly look into what it will take to get a dish - we have the receive just left the dish at homesite ... learning that is a big mistake.

Extremely frustrating! Once you've received great customer service like complete channel listing and homemade cookies, you're spoiled! If only the RV park owners/managers would get a clue and take a few minutes to provide the channels they would have many more happy campers!!

When parks use either Directv or Dish to create a private cable TV system, they must assign a channel (2, 3, 4 etc) to each network. There is no rhyme or reason to the assignment and there is no way to create a channel guide like you get with Dish or Directv. Also, there are many locations where there is no local network stations available on the satellite, so the park must use the DNS stations (New York or Los Angeles) for the CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox feeds. The best way to track what is on is to get a local paper and check the TV listings, they will likely be consistent with the local time, though you may have to make some adjustments to the network schedule if the park has to use DNS and the park is in a different time zone. This is the situation throughout our parks, and we provide a channel listing (ABC-2, CBS-3 ,A&E-5 etc) in our arrival materials, but there is no way we can offer a menu of the actual shows and times each day.

Likely the best you can do under the circumstances is to make your own list of the available channels and networks, and then use a TV listing service like tvlistings.aol.com to see what's on each network.

Thank you ... I took the park listing, made a spreadsheet, and put a third column with the previous park's listing of , i.e., Animal Planet is #52 here, whereas on the previous park's tv system it was 24, and now I can look up certain shows and have a corresponding reference channel number for here.
Yes, I alphabetized the names of the channels, so makes it easy to use the previous park's tv listing and switch to the corresponding channel here when I see a show we want to watch.
DH thinks it was my idea, so best fess up today - later.
