I have a dual tank regulater and it does not let the right amount of pressure through. It is low and gets worse as one tank is used a bit. I have tried two different regulaters and they oth do the same. I did have a twenty and a thirty lb. tank in use but tried to twentys and the same thing happened. I go to a single tank regulater on one tank and everything works great. I have a fireplace in my motorhome and the pressure becomes so little that when the fireplace goes on there is not enough gas coming through to keep the pilot light high enough to keep the gas flow. I have tried everything a checked all lines and I can not figure it out. anyone have any ideas.

What kind of rig?
Some 5ers have two regulator setups when tanks are installed on each side.

I'm beginning to think these regulators are like waste tank gauges.. they don't work.

There isn't a regulator on the fireplace, is there?
If you've tried different regulators, the fireplace would be the first place I looked.
Does the stove, furnace, and hotwater heater work as advertised?

It is only connected to the fireplace at present. When I go back to the same tank and use a single tank reducer it works fine and with the dual setup it worked fine when both tanks were full. The same thing happened to the first dual tank regulater which I replaced. It is only a six foot run. It really has me perplexed.

What year and type of rig?
What type of pigtails are on the regulator? Are they excess flow style with green knob?

IMHO tank rig to a propane dealer like Suburban propane. They should be able to figure it out quickly and cheaply, as they can measure things. Often regulators are adjustrable. BUT, if two tanks work different than one, I think your changeover valve is faulty.
