Hydro treated light distillates (kerosene, turpentine, or solvent extract) 60-100%
Naphthalene (mothballs) 0.1-1%
1,2,4 trimethylbenzene (environmental poison) 0.1-1%
So, it is 98 to 99.8% kerosene. Or turpentine. Or an extract of Stoddard Solvent.
Look at the MSDS, then look at the MSDS for each constituent.
How much does this highly refined kerosene cost?
How much does a gallon of #1 kerosene cost?
Look up the MSDS, and find out what is in that stuff you are putting in your fuel tank. You might be surprised!

That's exactly what I'm doing with my 2011 F350 6.7L King Ranch and what I did with my 2008 F450 before that.
I don't know, or care, if it helps or not, but I have never heard anyone say it will hurt my truck's engine to put it in. So, with a $60,000 truck, and a $100.00 fillup, I'm not too concerned about spending another $0.50 for the Ford cetane additive.

I know it makes my injectors quieter in my 05 6.0....
1oz to gallon ratio
If you run out of that stuff you can always just toss in a bottle of 5W20 motor oil - in the older diesels like mine.

After having my 3rd EGR valve replaced I got in contact with a Ford engineer and he recommended using the Motorcraft Diesel Cetane Booster and Performance Improver(PM22A)

Interesting video. Especially the last line: "Selling Motorcraft cetane booster will provide better fuel for your customers AND INCREASED PROFITS FOR YOU!"
No matter how they brag it up, it is still 98 to 99.8% kerosene, with less than 1% each of mothballs and benzene.
Seems to me transmission fluid would be just as good, maybe better. It is OIL, with lots of detergent and anti-foaming additives. Thus, it will lubricate better than kerosene, and clean the fuel system, and might reduce fuel foaming.
I won't use it, either.

Has anyone actually tried ATF in the diesel? Even in a farm tractor or something else?

Not only that but it gets even more silly. What does diesel fuel have a high percentage in it during the winter? You guessed it, kerosene!
Most of you already know this but for some you may need a reminder:
If you have a 2007 on up with a DPF; DO NOT PUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN APPROVED #2 DIESEL (AND APPROVED ADDITIVE (if you want).
All this talk about ATF, or two stroke oil or motor oil or used motor oil is fine with pre DPF or pre common rail engines.
Dump that stuff in a DPF equipped engine and you will have problems that the OEM won't fix on their dime.

I don't use TCW3 anymore now that I found Alterra DieselMaxx locally. It is bio based, I use 4x less than TCW3 and only $2 more.

Alterra Diesel Maxx:
Another one of those that gives no information on the MSDS. all it says is "Methyl Ester plus additives".
If you look up "methyl ester" you get many different types of methyl esters. Many of them are organic acids.
Alterra does not say which type they use.
I don't think I want organic acids in my fuel tank!
