Confused on this statement. Do you mean "Equal-i-zer" hitch or "weight distributing" hitch?

Ford's defination of curb weight is "the weight of the vehicle including standard equipment, oil, lubricants and a full tank of fuel (less fuel on F-650/F-750 models). It does not include the weight of driver, passengers, cargo or any optional
or aftermarket equipment." You would be amazed how much more weight we can add to a vehicle.

I tow on an open 18’ Featherlite trailer. I bought a scale to measure my tongue weight. I tow a Mazda Miata and a Subaru Legacy wagon on my trailer.
To get the proper tongue weight for these two vehicles I must back them onto my trailer. If I try to pull on forward I have too much weight on my tongue. If I place the vehicle back far enough so that my tongue weight is correct then my vehicle is too far aft to tie down on the trailer. But if I back on, putting the vehicle engine aft of my trailer tires, I can center the vehicle between my tie down points and have the proper amount of tongue weight.
My wife thinks it looks silly to have the car facing backwards but it does give us the proper weight and balance for our trailer.
By the way, the picture below was taken before I weighed the tongue. Now I back onto the trailer. My Miata is light enough, and small enough, that it doesn't make too much difference. Placement of the Subaru does make a difference.

Does anyone know if a 1996 Monaco Executive 40' sits on a Roadmaster chassis?

Ron It doesn't make any difference what you call it. Any hitch that is capable of redistributing the weight on the towing vehicle is not to be used on the Monaco Roadmaster RR10S or the S-series chassis.

The Texan wrote: Not only check the rated tow capacity of the MH, also check the trailer capacity. I don't know of many standard car haulers that have an axle rating sufficient to carry that weight. When we bought our car hauler, the standard axle rating was 3600# X 2, which does not equal the weight of the X and the trailer.
Don't forget the 10% of trailer's GVW that's carried on the tongue, not on the trailer axles.

Sorry, don't mean to be persnickity here... but the standard term is a "weight distributing hitch", whereas Equal-i-zer is a brand, much like Reese, Husky, Blue Ox, Hensley, etc. They are ALL WDH's. Typically here on RV.NET, most of us are aware of this terminology and when "equalizer" is used in place of WDH, it can be confusing.
I do understand now that you mean WDH and not an Equalizer. Again, don't mean to offend, just trying to understand the question.
