A few years ago I posted about installing a white and rogers thermostat in replace of the rv thermostat. The link below takes you to the discussion
link to old topic
In the summer time and early fall it behaves normally, but come the cold winter the thermostat wants to turn the furnace on even without batteries in it. Not usually a problem as the propane and rv battery are normally turned off.
But now we want to do a cool weather trip and the furnace blower is running even though I don't want it on. Pulling the faceplate seems to be the only solution right now.
When heating the trailer the thermostat runs normally.
I am wondering if there is a cold weather relay in the t-stat that activates the Rh to W circuit for emergency purposes.

Many of these digitals have a pre-programmed heating and cooling temperature setting. On my Lux, I have to press 'Hold' every time I change from heating to cooling to allow manual temperature changes. PITA.. have no idea why they do that.

Wish I could help but I've not noted that problem with my Hunter digital unit. It's a $25 solution if you can't solve yours.

Wondering if this is a mercury switch and maybe the trailer isn't quite level or the thermostat isn't which is why it might want to stay on???

Nope, still here. Just haven't read any replies that are worth my time replying too.
The thermostat in question, is a digital, battery operated home use, non-programmable t-stat. Please follow the link on the original post. The thermostat works as it should all summer and most of spring, fall, winter.
When the temperature falls in the trailer to below an UNKNOWN temperature, the furnace tries to start whether or not the t-stat has batteries in it or not. Not usually a problem as this is when the trailer is in storage with the propane off, and 12V system shut down.
I notice when I plug the trailer in and turn on the 12V battery switch during the winter once a month to keep the battery charged that the furnace tries to start then shuts-off on safety because the propane is shut off.
A couple days ago when I posted thism the thermostat was set at 45F (as low as it would go) and the selector had been switched from heat to off, and the 2 AA's were pulled. Temperature in the trailer was 43F. Yet the furnace fan had started.
I pulled the face plate, so only the terminal block was mounted to the wall and the fan shut down.
The furnace is an Attwood I believe and has a 2 wire system. These wires have been wired to the Rh and W terminals of the thermostat.
So, I believe I won't have a problem this weekend. The t-stat works as it should to maintain the setpoint, it's just why does it want to work when it is cold, even when the batteries are pulled.

Turn the circuit breaker off and the furnace won't come on or even try to start.

Like I noted earlier just replace the thermostat with a Hunter and avoid the trouble shooting hassles.
