This 'buddy' ought to get legal help, not free advice from this place.

I don't see where anyone is criticising YOU directly. The OP isn't in this situation, his 'buddy' is. And finally, yeah, right, always getting help and not criticism on THIS forum. Don't make me laugh.

If he owed you money, wouldn't you want a just settlement? Why should the bank be treated any differently?? I vote to sell it before it is reposed.
Ever wonder why banks aren't paying interest on your savings account?

Best thing is to get advice and help from a lawyer. It might cost him a couple of thousand, but it might save his credit rating.

What would happen if you owed $200 k on a motorhome, and it burned to the ground. The insurance would have to satisfy the loan no matter what the moho was worth????? Or, does the insur. co. just give you high book and you are responcible for the difference???

Depends on your insurance. I have MBA and can pick the amount I want to insure. Some plans will give you book value. Some will cover the loan amount thereby decreasing over time. I am sure if a MH burns to the ground there would be an investigation by the insurance co to determine if it were a defect and attempt to waylay obligation to the manufacturer, and if not to determine if it were an accident and if so what/how before they cut a check.

I agree, but it would be really hard to get the "old" Monaco to step up to anything.
In the past two yeaars I have come across a fiver and a moho on fire or just out. Both burned to the ground in about 15 minutes and I don't think you could "investigate" anything except melted metal and ashes.

I don't understand why people say sell it and pay the difference.
How do you sell a vehicle you don't own?????
The bank is holding the title would you buy a MH without the owner having a clear title????

Yes it is easy.
If buyer pays cash then you both take your cash to the bank that holds the loan and get the title.
If buyer is getting a loan then you go to the buyers bank. Buyer gets a loan, seller puts in cash as needed or agreed. The buyers bank making the loan will then handle the payoff and transfer title.
