We camped at Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine a couple of weeks ago,and I can't say enough good things about it!

We had trouble with our electric pedestal the first day - our power kept tripping off, even when we turned almost everything off or to gas, so we knew it was the pedestal's issue, not ours. We went to the office and complained, not expecting much. Well, within 15 minutes, a repairman was at our site, and he replaced everything in the pedestal! He was very nice; one of the employees at the park, actually. We found out that he'd spent 20 years in the Navy as a maintenance man on submarines.

There are several separate loops for campers, and at least one of them is for tents or PUPs only - larger campers literally can't fit under the trees in this loop!

The beach was beautiful, and basically private for the park; it also had a life guard in a limited area; 2 lifegards on the weekends. Long walks on the beach with no buildings nearby are wonderful. There was a lot to do - kayak, canoe, and sunfish rentals are available in a calm area, fishing, trails, clean restrooms, gift shop and walkup restaurant for food at the beach, and lots of shady trees. There was also free Wi-Fi at the restaurant area; there's outside seating under a shady pavillion, which made it nice for sipping coffee and cruising the net in the morning a couple of times while we were there.

Anastasia is also a short drive to the historic area and downtown - with plenty to do - great restaurants and nightlife, if you're so inclined, and the lighthouse is within sight of the park.

If you want to stay in this park, reserve early. As expected, it fills up fast!

It is a great park but has very limited sites for larger RV's.
