Usually the long weekends are easily booked off. We have a mental list. We travel a little further and explore. However this upcoming labour day weekend I've not automatically found where we're going.
And since this summer fuel is not so cheap and we'll have had some ferry and interior trips already under our belt from earlier in the year, I wonder if there is a gem we've missed out on "locally"
We've done Alouette, Rolley, Cultus, Brae Island, Whistler, Squamish, Porteau so I know about them.
I'd like to draw a circle around Whistler, to Manning to maybe up as far as Lilloet on the #1. Lots of options I know.
Do you have a gem you'd care to share?

Does "locally" apply only to Canadian destinations?
I find that there are some very beautiful locations nearby in Washington state that aren't as far as some other destinations north of the border. Deception Pass and the Whidbey Island area are only a couple of hours from Vancouver and very scenic. With the strong Canadian dollar and the cheaper fuel in the US, a "local" trip like that might be just as cost effective.

Sunshine Coast!!
I take advantage of every opportunity I can to travel up and down the Sunshine Coast.
In fact, I am doing a homeshow in Powell River next weekend so I'll cruising through on Wednesday.
There are so many really cool spots through Gibson, Sechelt and further up the road. Hop the ferry to Powell and explore some more. Heck, even ferry hop to Texada and explore that.
While I am in Powell, I will likely ferry over to Comox and run up to Campbell River for a day or so.
I just enjoy so much traveling all over that area.

Have you done #20 in Washington? That is probably the coolest weekend trip ever. Can do a loop north thru BC or south thru Leavenworth or just return on 20. If the weather is good...it's a 10 out of 10.

thanks all for ideas. I've done Sunshine Coast and will in fact again this summer (Porpoise Bay). Saltery Bay for those that haven't been there is a stunning summer stop. Standard PP amenities but gorgeous.
I'm feeling a little spoiled
so many choices so little time......

I thought of you a few hours ago when I drove past Porpoise Bay!
6 hours and 2 ferries later I am in Powell River for about a week doing a homeshow here.
Could have used some of that sunshine here for the trip - it was all liquid - and lots of it!!
