I wish you had posted this last summer. I re-built my Hensley hitch and then re-painted it. This sounds like a perfect, tough finish for it.

Hmmmm. Maybe I'll check with my local Line-X dealer and see if he can put a coat of clear Aspart-x over my existing paint job.

I like it. It reminds me of a late 60's - early 70's muscle car rims.

Very cool.

Add some raised white letter tires and it would look even better!

The cheap "off shore" chrome wheels that some RV manufactures use are poor quality steel to begin with, and are supposed to be plated with a thin layer of copper (if they are done right) and then dipped in chrome which is electronically plated to the metal. Rarely are they very long lasting, and they usually rust from the INSIDE out. That's why you see the rust pimples emerging from the below plated surface.

I home your wheels continue to look great for a long time! Clever idea and they just might last forever!

I actually had some cheap chrome wheels I bought for my Studebaker, they rusted. I had them sandblasted and replated, and within 2 years..you guessed it! Rust bubbled thru again!

Did a similar treatment but didn't use Linex (yours looks great). Then used stainless steel rings that were chromed over and they rusted out horribly.

When I get tires next month - think I'll go to the chrome plastic rings (like yours) to replace where the others were - but I junked them several yeaars ago.

Yours give a beautiful look. And great pics.

Way nicer looking than my aluminum wheels. I am considering changing wheel and tire size and this would look great.

Update, the Poly Aspart-X did not last/stick. I'm not sure why, but probably due to some combination of the chrome wheels and inadequate preparation. In the near future, I will be buying new wheels, but will have them coated... will follow up then.

Get the wheels powder coated. It will/should last for you. Of course my tire guy dinged the first rim....
