Some fellow RV rs have been securing multiple sites for a long time, not even knowing if they were going to the area they were making the reservations for… keeping what they need then canceling what they didn’t need at the last moment and letting their friends know where and when they are canceling… effectively blocking out other RV’ers…
the scalpers have just found a way to take it to a new level, then profit from it…
in the long run this may help everyone in the end by ending the practice…

My quote in an earlier post was from westernrvparkowner and is typical thinking of an rv park owner! Sorry i didnt put his name to his quote. Like i said earlier, the national parks are for the people...all of us, rich and poor. $80.00 a site definately keeps out the poor.
I must have missed some fireworks while I was gone. My earlier posts seems to have disappeared (which I thought were very benign). I completely agree with you. Our public lands are for all to enjoy, not just the wealthy.

Well, this explains why I was unable to get a site at Yosemite for the 1st time ever. It's always been difficult and getting real good sites is a******shoot, but this year I was on at 7:00 and every time I tried to book a site it was gone.

Generations of RV families have been at this since the 70's.
I believe this. Seems like around April of each year, we hear in the news that all the beach camps are sold out for the summer.

totally agree. after camping in California for over 25 years, we try NEVER to camp in the summer here. the only exception is for camping with our godson and his family, in August.
otherwise, we camp in the spring, fall and a few times in the winter, since we can camp year-round out here.
why go when the rest of the state goes, when you've got 3/4's of the year to go and not have to deal with all the crowds and reservation nightmares.
