The Garmin 560 is a specialized GPS designed for truckers but with features for RV'ing, such as the height of overpasses, which you can only get with such specialized truck GPS's. The older version is the Garmin 465.

I use the Garmin 755T. I suggest you get one that has traffic monitoring. Really helps in cities. Mine has lifetime updates. Just downloaded POI's for bridge/tunnel heights. Will see how it works out.

I prefer Colpilot for laptop software GPS.
I have a Nuvi as well but Copilot is by far better for me.

Yep, my experience also. I have a 2 yr old Magellan Maestro which I cannot get map updates for. I use it on the motorcycle now since I don't care if it gets wet and dies.

BIL has a TomTom and does not like it.

I got the Garmin and love it. Software is simple to use, and they actually encourage the addition of after market POI packages (something I struggled with on the Magellan). I also like the Garmin display better.

I got one that had something called 'lane assist'. Wonderful tool. Instead of just saying stay left it actually shows all of the lanes on the road and which ones go in which direction. Invaluable for places like SoCal and Nashville.

I wanted a lifetime map upgrade and picked up one with lifetime traffic as well. Didn't think about using it. Turns out it is very accurate, including showing slowdowns and a road that was closed for snow. I like that feature. It also shows the current speed limit, something else I have found useful.

I'll never get a GPS that isn't made by Garmin.

Whatever you do "DO NOT BUY A MAGELLEN". You will get NO support if you need it, unless you enjoy talking to people in India who know nothing. Buy a Garmin and forget the others.
