Looking for a WiFi Blu Ray player primarily to be able to connect to Netflix through uVerse. Don't presently have an HD TV but plan to upgrade in the future. Trying to find something in the $100-$150 price range. Anyone have any recomendations of brands/models or on the flip side brand/models to avoid? Thanks!

If you have a laptop with wifi and a vga output, you can connect to netflix with a vga cable and sound cable. Cost $30 at Walmaart.

A bit more then you want to spend but for a bit more flexability consider a Sony PS3. They play Blu Ray and will wirelessly stream Netflix among many other applications. Consider the gaming aspect of the PS3 as an added bonus.

I bought a Sony from Costco, didn't work worth a darn! Grainy picture playing Blu Ray disks, buffered on Netflix every 5 minutes, took it back and bought a Magnavox model 5130 at Walmart for $98.00 and it works perfect. It does not have facebook, twitter. etc. but the Blu-Ray player is twice the quality of the Sony and Netflix does not freeze and buffer. I liked it so much I bought another one for the MH. If all you want is a good Blu-Pay player and Netflix there is nothing wrong with the Magnavox for less that $100.00

Thanks "brobox"! We were considering the Sony from Costco, but had read the same info about buffering in a review so we were hesitant ... this seals it. This is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for. We have a Wii so the PS3 doesn't fit our needs or wallet (and, yes, we do plan to use the Wii for Netflix also, but it stays hooked up to the kids TV, so it doesn't help my wife and I).

I thought about the PC connection, but it is not the direction I want to go right now, but thanks for the info.

The buffering aspect could be the speed of the download connection.

We received Vizio Blu-Ray player from DS for Christmas, model VBR210, 1080p, wireless, Netflix, Pandora, F/B, connected to 47" Vizio 1080p TV.

We just signed up for FREE (30-day) Netflix 2 days ago. Watched three movies and two tv shows. Works perfectly, no buffering issues (using 6.0 max ATT dsl wireless connection).

Watched 6-7 HD dvd's and the Blu-Ray player upconverted to near 1080p quality. Even I could tell the difference.

I was dubious about the wireless connection, since I've had some issues with ATT, but no problem to date on Blu-Ray.

We're using a $99 Vizio from Walmart; it requires a wired connection rather than wireless, but for $99 I can afford a cable. Works great on Netflix with a Verizon Wireless aircard with a WiFi Ranger router.

We have an Insignia NS-WBRDVD2 WiFi Blu Ray that can do 1080p. Have it attached to a SD TV to watch streaming Netflix movies. Can stream Netflix, Pandora, Napster and Cinema Now. Works well even though we have a fairly slow (1.5M) connection.

I bought a Sony at Best Buy on sale for $150. It's a blue-ray/ Std. DVD player with every output from HDMI all the way down to composite analog out as well as optical audio for surround. It has a ton of web enabled services on it including Netflix, HULU, You Tube, etc.I watch something called Crackle that streams several hundred movies and older TV series's. So far I have had absolutely no issues with data buffering or overall lousy pix. AND my iPhone is a fully functioned remote via WiFi

I have been very happy with my Sony S370 BD Player. I watch a lot of Netflix on it and even with standard DSL (No FIOS in my neighborhood yet) it handles HD pretty well. I run the sound through a six year old Onkyo 7.1 system and the quality is about the same as the sound coming from the Directv HD receiver I use.
