Thinking of spending 3-4 days in Chattanooga in July. Anyone have opinions on best campgrounds? Holiday Park sounded nice but more research scared me off a little. Like everyone else would like clean spacious sites, and a pool since will be in July. Also is Chattanoga worth 3-4 days? Thanks

Hi we stayed at Holiday travel park and we were there for 4 days in July a few years ago.It was a good park there the place had gravel but the place was clean. Bathhouse was clean and had ac. the pool was clean also. As for things to do We did lookout mountain, ruby falls, rhode the southern bell river boat. The campground is about a mile away from town far enough away but yet close enogh to get to town. There also is a camping world close buy. I hope you enjoy your trip.

We use to live in Chattanooga and a neighboring town for 10 years. I would stay at Best Holiday Travel Park or Shipps if they paid me. But that's okay, my RV is too old for them.
Our favourite campground is Chester Frost County Park We like Dallas Island/Windy Hills campsites. Great bathhouses (private HUGE showers).

TN Aquarium, IMAX theater, ride the Coolidge Park Carousel. Then there's the Red Wolf Habitat.
This may helpyou plan what to do.

There's a nice county park with a great campground along the river. Chattanooga is in Hamilton county. The park is right next to Chattanooga, close to everything. Has a pool, beach etc. http://www.hamiltontn.gov/parkrec/RulesFees.aspx THIS IS THE WEB SITE OR GOOGLE Chester frost park

I've stayed in this park. I thought it was pretty nice. No pool but a big swimming hole in the lake. Close to Tenn River Gorge and Chattanooga.

We stayed at Chester Frost about 2 years ago in June - nice park, quite popular (read: crowded!), but enough space between sites. Hot and HUMID when we visited - no fault of the park or City! ST

Shellmound (TVA Campground) on the opposite side of I24 is better in my opinion. And has a nicer swimming area. Whitwell/Marion County is the town outside of Chattanooga that we had a house in.

I usually stay at the KOA just into GA on I-59, up in the mountain, rural, but no OTA tv reception. when I had work done at Camping world, I stayed in the park adjacent which certainly is adequate but not a "destination" park. I would think that when visiting Chattanooga you would be more interested in sightseeing, etc. than camping anyway.
