Unfortunately I could not find the original thread and a second one that had been opened had been locked so I started this one a while back to keep it out there.

As do you I think about these people (maybe not as often) but frequently.

I feel very sad for the family and hope that at some point they will be found so the family will have closure.

I am also curious about what has become of the individual(s) that were arrested relating to this crime.

I am also curious as to the outcome of the RCMP's bungling aspects of the investigation.

As for the family... If they read this or if someone they know reads this I would like them to know that I wish them peace in this trying time and speedy resolution to the matter.

Maybe "Unsolved Mysteries" should pick up the story to try to stir up some information.

Well it has been a year since I last posted to this thread and I had virtually forgotten about it until today. I do not know why but I woke up this morning and the first thing in my mind was this couple and a burning desire to find out what happened to them.

Does anyone out there know what happened to them?

Are there any articles with any updates to this story?

We have started locking our entry door when we leave the unit to fuel or go into a store. We thought long and hard about this and wondered how easy it would be for someone to get into the MH while I was fueling and the wife was out.. We live in the same Province where this happened and have heard nothing for some time now.

They were declared dead by a court in Edmonton. Sad day for all, but it allows their family to settle affairs. Nothing was ever found that would lead to a suspect, except for the Vader guy who is still in jail on other charges.

Thank you for the update.

So very sad.

May everyone have a safe and happy new year and may the McCann family find some peace and joy.

I am sure that the RCMP know Mr.Vader is involved and they will not relent until he is brought to justice. The guy has a long record and is clearly guilty.

There is an update in thoday's Edmonton Journal. Still no good news about charges. The RCMP have 6 investigators actively working on the case. They are now trying to find the mechanic who installed the base plate on their toad in 2006, believing that it was modified to fit the McCann's Hyundai Tucson CUV after being removed from their previous toad, a 1988 Dodge Ram 50 pickup.

So far, the RCMP have followed up on over 2,000 leads and are "making progress". There is still a $60,000 reward for the tip that leads to arrest and conviction. I see the highway billboards every time I drive Hwy 16 between Edmonton and the mountains.

So the police are looking for the mechanic that modified the towbar.... I'm thinking that this rather unique towbar must have shown up somewhere, perhaps on Vader's property? Do they need the mechanic to identify it as belonging to the McCanns?

I heard a report that some snow mobilers had found some bones in an area quite aways away and they were determined to be human. They were being sent to Edmonton for forensic testing and I have not heard any more about it. This area is in my estimate within an hr. of where they disappeared. Who knows maybe it will be them.It sure would be nice to be able to close this for the families sake. I can't imagine the horror that they have been through.

Well, it would be nice for the family to have closure. As to any other related evidence, let it lead where it may.
