really not interested in two controllers and two sets of wires and two charging systems for seperate banks
Options, always have options, and the journey goes much smoother

Hopefully will be talking to the seller this week, he has been working out of town
overcast and cloudy today 34.76 amphrs, 462.9 watt Hrs
but yesterday sunday was very nice
66.47 Amphrs, 904.8 watt hrs
fridge uses around 1000>1200 watt hrs, total avg daily use around 1600 watt hrs
thats why I want more solar capability

the local guy ? about 40 miles finally got back
says he can have some panels for me by Next Friday

well the guy in Ventura never got back to me
never took delivery on any panels
never returned my email or my Ph calls
luckily I did not have any money entrusted to him
all it cost me was my time and effort
on a good note
the solar conditions have been very good lately

Quote: numbers for Monday 3-28-11
NICE SUNNY DAY
total watt hrs 1340.3 total amp hrs 94.98
peak amps 16.5 peak watts 230.0
today March 27, 2012
104.74. AmpHrs
1417.0 watt hrs
17.84 peak amps.
240.5 peak watts
the adjstments made last week are giving me higher outputs through out the day
and I've been keeping an eye on the meter, less lense effect , these peak readings are sustained as long as the sun is there and the batteries will absorb the watts/amps

two day job
day 1 i ran the generator in the morning, got a really good charge on the batteries and then set the max solar voltage output at 14.7
day 2, no morning generator, I adjusted the mppt tracking for max amps output using the in line Turnigy power meter to track the amps going to the batteries, NOT the indicator led on the controller circuit board !!
i gained several amps charge rate during the morning sun
and saw the mid day sustained rate climb to a higher value
Friday registered a peak of 278w charge rate 21.32 amps
Sat recorded a peak of 269w charge rate of 20.12
this morning was party cloudy/hazy
i expect a higher daily total when we get a full clear sunny day
got 26.xx ampHrs 300+ watt hrs Sunday in the rain storm that dropped almost 2" of rain
these new readings are a lot closer to my Original expectations
the blue sky manual says its important to adjust the mppt when the batteries are low/discharged and to adjust for max current
i think that was my earlier mistake, i adjusted mppt during the mid solar day with max voltage and batteries already significantly recharged
mppt gains are best realized in the morning at the start of the charge cycle
when batteries are lower and it takes less voltage to charge them and you want maximum amps

Until recently I had no idea some MPPT had to be set manually to optimize the panel's MPP.
I am starting to appreciate the automatic Morningstar controller a bit more even if it was a bit more money.

As I understand it, the Blue Sky 2000 is a first gen controller. It does not search of the max power point. You have to trim some pots to tell the controller where you believe MPP is located. You do that by finding the max charge current. The problem with this approach is that you're adjusting the controller for just one operating point. MPP will change with sun position, clouds, haze, temperature, battery voltage, etc. If you don't have the correct set point, efficiency will suffer.

If the older MPPTs didn't track, why did they call them MPPTs ?
