A new Wally World Super Center opened in June in Campbell River on Vancouver Island. I saw a few RVs in the parking lot but don't know if they over-nighted.
We were at a nearby RV park.

Exit 50 (St Charles Blvd exit) on highway 40 (Transcanada Hwy)
Thanks, I have it mapped now. The Wal Mart Store locator had me way off the mark, down around exit 49. That looks like a great location, easy to get in and out and probably well lighted throughout the night.
Thanks again we'll use it on our next trip inland
Cheers

It's about 100 feet off the highway on your right, behind the Petro-Canada and beside The Brick furniture store, cannot miss it. Very safe area.

Hi gorjo01
yes I used Google street to have a look at it, I was impressed, it will be a definite overnight stop for us when returning East after trips. On the Westward trip we overnight at the Ste Hyacinthe Wally
again thanks

Glad to help. I just looked it up on Google also, and yes, that is exactly what is depicted there. The only thing negative is that, as you can tell, you may hear some highway noise. Happy travels.

Willy, you're right about the no overnight parking signs in the parking lot of the Sault Ste Marie Ont Walmart, checked today and saw several such signs. Also saw several RV'ers who obviously couldn't see the signs in the dark, it's not unusual to see 6 to 8.
I think it was the local KOA that complained to city council but I thought that at one time I saw a media report that said the city wasn't going along...looks like someone got their way.
All people want to do is catch a few z's, they don't need hookups or even to unhook so why try and force them into $30+ sites for a few hours, they arrive at dusk and are gone at dawn. You'd think that campgrounds close to the highway could make a few $ by providing a stop over lot between certain hours for a reasonable fee rather than try to herd these RV'ers into their expensive sites with all the amenities.

Hi Timber, it's possible the RVer's did ask and got the same answer as I did. "As far as Wal Mart was concerned it was OK to stay, they were not going to call in a complaint to the police"
There are two ways the By Law can be enforced, the municipality can authorize the police or an agency to do it. This will result in additional costs for the city as these agencies require additional funds for enforcement, so the city looks for an easy way out and asks the property owner to call the Police and complain. If the property owner does this then the Police are oblicated to act on the complaint and ASK the offender to move on as no criminal law to this point has been broken. Now if you don't move on when asked by the police that's a criminal offense. nuff said
Before calling the Police the property owner is supposed to ask the offender to move on first.
Hope that helps for understanding why RV's can overnight under the very signs that forbid it. It boils down to $$$ Wal Mart wants them and the cites don't want to spend them especially to cater to a campground or business outside it's own city limits.
Cheers
