In British Columbia the only Walmart where you are not allowed to park overnight is in Terrace, BC.
Locals protested against overnight parking, now most RV'ers drive right through and don't stop in Terrace.

Yes. Sometimes it's just a group of locals who don't want "transients" stopping in their community. In some cases, nearby campground owners have been the cause. It is very hard for local council members not to buckle under to citizens who claim their town is being harmed in some way by RVers. That's true even though Wal-Marts are big tax payers in their community.

Walmarts in Cornwall, Ontario and Kirkland, Quebec (western suburb of Montreal) allow overnight parking.

I can't seem to locate the Kirkland QC Wally on the Google maps. what exit does one use to get to it?

I've overnighted in the Cornwall Wally that was good I also overnighted in the Wally at Vaudreuil-Dorion exit #3 off the 540 located a little past the Flying J on the same street.

Cheers

When we were at Prince George, BC Wally in June this year there were signs posted around the perimeter stating that overnight parking was against city ordinances. We proceeded to vacate the area and went to more friendly RV towns to do our shopping.

Around us in the Montreal south shore area I used to see a lot of rigs in the big box store parking lots (Walmart, Canadian Tire, Zellers) but over the past two years or so it seems that municipalities are banning over-night stays. It's really a shame.

The Walmart in Sault Ste Marie Ontario allows overnight parking. A local campground went to city council to have it stopped but didn't get the necessary support.

Thanks, I have it mapped now. The Wal Mart Store locator had me way off the mark, down around exit 49. That looks like a great location, easy to get in and out and probably well lighted throughout the night.
Thanks again we'll use it on our next trip inland

Hi Timber
this is what we saw when we arrived Jul 2009
We didn't stay that night but on the return trip we stopped in and asked if it was ok to stay overnight. The manager said there was a By-Law against it and they had to put up the sign. He also explained the Bi-Law "asked" for the manager to report overnighting. He also told us he would never do that so it was ok to stay.
Anyway sure glad to hear the By Law didn't pass, so I hope the sign has been taken down.
Cheers
Willey
