Has anyone had this problem with the UTB. I installed the system a year ago on my Rubicon and Winnebago Voyage. It has worked perfectly for 6 trips. On the way back from Florida this past weekend, the "toad brake on" alarm went off. Our friends behind us confirmed that the Jeep brake lights were indeed on. I pulled off, pulled up on the Jeep brake pedal and the brake lights went off. I sprayed wd-40 on the brake pedal linkage and loosened the solenoid cable 4 turns. My brake rotors were not hot. It appeared the brake pedal had not fully retracted. After this happened several more times, I noticed a pattern. The alarm in the Voyage would go off the second time I braked the coach. If I ran over a bump in the road, the alarm would go off.
When I got home, I contacted US Gear for support. I was told my cable was binding. I checked everything and nothing has moved. I even pulled the breakaway cable and reinstalled it to see if the brake lights stayed on. They did not. My only solution is to check my brake pads on the Jeep to see if they are close to needing replacement and if ok, use a bungy cord to help pull the brake pedal up. US Gear says they will send out another solenoid but states they have not had any issues with it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Update:Jeep brakes have over 50% life. I did the cable adjustment test as recommended by US Gear. Everything checks out ok. Problem still there.

Hi, I set the controller around 5-6. I think in the beginning, it was lower. How do you suspect a higher setting could cause the toad brake pedal not to fully rebound?

long shot. i thought if you had the controller set to the max that might be somehow responsible for the brake peddal on the toad not retracting. we've had the UTB since 2003 and apart from a bad ground on the breakaway switch we've had no problems. have you considered a low-tech solution...maybe a bad return spring on the brake peddal?

do you have separate bulbs/wiring for the UTB or did you install diodes to control the brake lights? good luck.

I put a bungy cord on my brake pedal to my seat on the wrangler.

I tried that but hooked it to my dash and it deactivated my system. US Gear wants me to check the blue wire and its connections to see if I am getting an occasional ground.
