We had a death in the family and the DW flew in to NC while I came in with the motor home. Towing distance is almost 1000 miles.
Upon arriving I disconnected the Brake Buddy from the Ranger and disconnected the Ranger from the MH. Like every other time I towed the Ranger for some distance I found the Ranger would shake and shimmy every time the brakes were applied. Each time we tow the MH we have to have work done on the front brakes.
The repair person said it looks like the BB had applied the brakes and failed to release them. I sent the BB off to have it repaired (See previous posting) and will tow without it on the trip back to OK.
Has any one had problems like this while using a Brake Buddy?
Tis another fine day to serve in and for the glory of the Corps. Every day is a holiday and every meal a feast.

No, but I have had the BB shift position in such a way as to push on the peddle.

Not sure at all about the BB but the shimmy/shake sounds like wheel bearings on the Ranger?

The problem is the brakes getting overheated and warping the roters. We have had the roters turned 3 times and replaced 2 times. Again, the mechanic stated it looks like the BB is not releasing, keeping the brakes applied, and overheating the roters.

It could be that it is set too sensative and aplying the brakes too soon or too hard.

Plug it in and put it in the passenger floor as you drive the Ranger to see what it is doing.
After I did that I saw the sensitivity should be set on 3. I want toad brakes but not as frequently as it was activating on higher sensitivities. Dropped the air pressure also.

Towed a 2001 Ranger about 30,000 miles from 2001 to 2009 using a BB and Remco disconnect, never a problem. Sorry you're having a problem with yours.
Check your settings, 4 on the sensitivity, bleed off the power assist every time you start the engine. I don't remember what I set the pressure at, my Ranger was between 4,000 and 4,500 when loaded. Good idea to have BB check it out.

With my Jeep Wrangler I found sensitivity set to 4 was to much so I have used a setting of 3 and 50lbs pressure based on weight chart on side of BB unit. So far no problems at 3 sens but really knew it when set at 4.
