These are both on the south side of Indy within about 15 minutes of the I-465/IN-37 interchange. Indy Lakes is on Southport Rd which intersects with IN-37 and Lake Haven is on IN-37. There is another one farther south on IN-144 but I can't remember the name.

I have never been but a friend of mine in Cincinnati swears by Brown County State Park. He camps there with his pup all the time. It is near Indianapolis not sure how far a way though. I am sure you could find it if you search IN state parks web page.

Brown County SP would be a good 1 1/2 hrs from Indy, to the south.

Arguably the best cg near Indy is White River in Cicero. White River is a bit pricey for extended stays and you can only stay 14 consecutive nights. My next choice would be S&H in Greenfield. Sugar Creek in Crawfordsville is also ok. Mounds state park is near Indy - ok but no full hook up sites. We stay near Indy a couple of months every summer. Choices are limited.

Here is a great County owned campground just north of Indy & Noblesville. It rests on the banks of the White River. They do not have on line reservations so you will have to call. They do have some full hookups. Close to town yet out in the country near the reservoir. Be warned, the mosquito's are bad there this year.

do not do not go to lake haven if you have kids they say they are a 4 star resort but i differ we stayed there for a week this summer with our three boys the website says kids have a lot to do but that is not true thay have a pond and say a swimming area but it is full of goose **** the play area they have is one you buy at wallmart and is in the back yard of the owners house and has a sigh on it that says play at own risk! you can rent a paddle boat if the owners and there live in famliy does not have it out all day.we ended up loseing power about 4 days into our trip and the owner came out to ck the power with a huge chip on his shoulder earlyer in the week i seen him on the road to the showers and said hi to him he just looked the other way and i wanted to tell him how dirty the restroom was and that there was a older teenager hanging out in the showers and he just walked away when i said hi .turns out the older teenager was a full time live in at the campground that had smoe mental problems and liked to hang out for hrs in the showers kinda creepy.anyways we ended up packing up with 2 more days of our trip payed for. due to the kids where driveing us crazy because the lack of things to do they had allready run the tread off there bike tires because that was the only kid friendly stuff to do.we didnt even ask for a refund we just left and went north to jellystone near ft wayne now that is a 4 star campground very nice and lots of stuff to do.

Lieber State Recreation Area on Cataract Lake (aka Cagle's Mill). It has a pool and a beach. Sites there are not FHU though. It may be a little farther than 1/2 hour. Paynetown on Lake Monroe would be a good choice too, but again it is not 1/2 hour, more like an hour to the south side of Indy (465/Indiana 37 interchange). I have heard fishing is good @ Summit Lake State Park east of Indy, but know nothing about the campground other than being a typical IN state park, no FHU. Only 3 IN St Parks have FHU, Charlestown, Mounds St Rec on Bookville Lake (only 1 loop) & Prophetstown.
