Hi Everybody,

My 2003 Monaco Executive has a dash unit that combines backup mirror, radio-CD player and engine analyzer. For use, it beeps three times, emerges from the dash and tilts up, so that you can see the display. It quit coming out of the dash the other day. All I get is the three beeps, and a noise that sounds like it's trying to open up (so there is power coming to it). It is a Panasonic CQ-VA707WEUC. The Panasonic people said to call Monaco. I called Monaco tech support, and they told me that it was obsolete, and recommended that I try Kenwood. Kenwood doesn't seem to have anything like that. Right now, I'm in the Colorado Springs area, and nobody here wants to look at it. I'd appreciate any advice or help that any of you could give me. If we can just get it to open, we'll leave it open. If I can't get something with all of the functions, my priorities are camera display (I NEED this,) the engine analyzer (I like it a lot,) and radio-CD player (I can do without it).

As long as I'm posting, there's another issue: A recent hailstorm cracked the outer plastic layer of the domed skylight over the shower
(the inner layer is intact, but it's probably a one-piece unit). I've covered the crack with duct tape, but a little bit of moisture is collecting between the two layers. I haven't started investigating it yet, but I'm guessing that it's not available any more, and that my only recourse would be an RV salvage yard. Any ideas?

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Hal

You may want to take a look at the Navion 5000 which combines CD/iPOD entertainment center, rear/side view camera system, engine data, gps, and tire pressure monitoring. American Coach uses them.

Those Automatic Screens have been a problem for a lot of People. I'm pretty sure that there is a fairly easy way to release the catch and pull it out manually. You may have to bend a bit of the mechanism slightly to cause the thing to release. Try inserting a credit Card or thin Plastic Putty Knife along the Edge!

I have the same unit. I would remove the unit from the dash and start looking for something that is hanging up. You should be able to get the display out manually although I don't have an idea how to do that. Looking at the unit out on a table should give a clue.
