Just wondering how many others use a lock on the receiver instead of a rod with bobby pin type retainer.Have they ever been known to wiggle loose? I use the lock for long trips.

I use the trailer lock when unhooked from the trailer for more than a couple of days, for security. Other than that, I find it quicker/more convenient to just use the hitch pin.

I always use lock on reciever and on hitch for various reasons. Possible wiggle loose, also someone forgetting key-pin or to close hitch, or someone else tampering with it. And for theft prevention. My DD had a utility trailer stolen even with hitch lock. They pulled the pin on reciever and hooked up to theirs. I look at it as just a little added insurance and assurance.

I have used both but traveled over 90,000 miles with just a pin and never had one come loose. Of course you need to make sure everything is properly installed and inspect it now and then.

Always use a lock. It took two being stolen before I started locking it in. I use a lot of locks now for various things on the TV and HTT and have not had a problem since.

I use a lock... But mine is also stored in a public RV storage facility. I'm a little paranoid...lol

It depends on where I am at, but I should probably lock it all the time.
