On our last outing I accidentally turned on the water pump and the tank was dry.I didnt hear the pump for all the noise around me.I estimate it ran for 30 min or so before I caught it.I added water to my tank and it works just fine cycles as it should with good pressure. I know they are capable of running dry but I always thought that was just for a min or so.Do you think I damaged it ?

Probably added a little wear to the impeller or the casing around the impeller. I would think it would not be enough to cause any noticeable problems and likely only shortened the pump life a few minutes.

As long as the impeller does not bind up (since the water lubricates during operation) when it is running dry then there should be no damage to the pump. The only concern would be it if picked up some debris or something was caught in the impeller causing it to not turn and overheating the motor or breaking the blades or the shaft.

If your water pump wont run for 30 minutes it would be hard pressed to even allow a family to shower. Not likely to have damaged it running for ANY length of time because they're MADE to be used. You can easily TEST to see if it's damaged by just turning it on and seeing if it runs OK. That's where I'd start. Good luck / Skip

Remember it was running dry-no water.

I'd say at this point, it either works or it doesn't. You said it seems fine so I'll bet you're OK. The only thing might be that you've shortened its overall life by a little bit. Use it until it gives you a problem, then change it.

There are no "impellers" in the water pumps on RVs. These are diaphragm pumps and consequently don't depend on the fluid being pumped for lubrication. No more wear on the pump wet or dry.
