The campground is NEAR the park, but not IN the park.
It will be interesting to see if they can find out what triggered the attack.
I am sorry for the victims and their families.
I am not paranoid about very many things, but sleeping in a tent in those mountains is certainly one of them!

I'm with Mower on that one. There was a time, 20 years ago when camping in a tent in this area was no problem. Grizzly's were pretty well restricted to the National Parks and campers weren't molested.
In the intervening years, environmental regulations have allowed the grizzly bear to range out further and further into areas normally devoid of the bear.
These kinds of conflicts are bound to increase as the grizzly spreads throughout the Rockies.
I wouldn't think of going into campgrounds I used to tent camp in anymore.

They may have caught the bear, and two of her cubs. A third cub, approximately 18 months old, is still on the loose.
They are testing to see if they have the right bear(s).
