Has anyone checked out the new model just coming out? Is it ok for a dinghy and what are the restrictions?

Took one for a test drive last week. V6 is okay but want to try the V8. They will be towable just like the last model. As long as it's not the full-time 4x4 system, it will be towable. They are nice. Only had 2 basic plain janes on the lot. Waiting for the Limited or Overlands to hit the showroom. Told the wife a new one will be B-Day present for the next couple years. My 2002 GC has been mainly problem free.

Ordered a new one last week. 4wd Overland, blackberry pearl color. The only ones I have seen in person are the Laredo's. Don't know about towing since I have a 2010 Liberty for that.

The one I test drove was a Laredo with the Hemi. I liked the performance so I ordered the Hemi as well.

I test drove the Overland with 5.7, and it was REAL nice. Problem for towing: I don't believe anybody makes a bracket for it yet (at least not 2 weeks ago when I drove it). I called Blu Ox and Roadmaster, and they both asked me to be the test project for a free bracket.
Another problem is the fatso weighs in at 4850 lbs, which is the base Overland (not 5.7) without any options added, like towing equipment, big engine, etc. (I want the big engine to use it for towing larger loads.) I suspect it would weigh well over 5000 lbs. total, which exceeds my MH tow rating. I looked at the front end of the car and it appears you would mess up the fascia with tow brackets, and that isn't real appealing to me when you have to pay well in excess of $40K for the Overland. You could get a lesser trim model also, and the weight goes down a couple hundred pounds and a lot less money.
But, the car is much better than the old Grand Cherokees, at least what I could tell in my 5 mile test drive.
