why can't they fix what you have? Moving the axles back is certainly within their capabilities and this would make everyone happy..

Very intersting to hear. I wonder how much difference moving the axles back would make to handling. Wider turns required maybe? I know it would help pin weight, but what else would it change? Did they come up with the same numbers for pin weight that you did?

Sounds like they want to make it better. I wonder if it's just the TEII models with the extra weight that are really an issue. The extra gas tank and AC unit do add some weight. And when you have the garage full, it can make a difference. I'm curious how many 398 TEII they actually produced.

If the move the axles back, then the wheel well cutouts would be off 20"s.

This requires all new sides.

Handling would be about the same. Little wider turn, but less rear end turnout. Moot issue to me. Pin weight would be nice. Not sure what numbers they came up with.

I looked up the regular 398s online, and the axles seem to be in the same place as mine. I know they made 300 TE IIs. Not sure if it's just the 398s or all of them.

Option #3 (in writing) sounds pretty good.

I'm a "bird in the hand" kind of guy and usually push for the quickest resolution possible in case the other party has a change of heart, but I think I'd be willing to wait if that's the model I really wanted.

I'd also take a hard look at the other models though (Raptor, etc.).

Glad to hear they're stepping up and making it right. I hope you get it in writing as quickly as possible.

Diffenitly in writing. Option 3.

bottom line though is they're stepping up and admitting their mistake. In my mind that is HUGE! I'd take option 3 if it were me, use the old one as best you can for a couple of months. Make them commit to making it up if the new model doesn't have all the goodies the existing one has, then you could add the stuff yourself.

Mav,

You can disregard my earlier request, I found the original post. Interesting problem! Best of luck. I think a lot of people will be watching for the final outcome....

Here is a new issue....

Wife doesn't want to wait and see on a trailer that may or may not have the options we want.

I'm gonna go to Denver tomorrow and see if we can find something else that floats our boat.

Wife would rather get a full refund at this point.

Mav,

Sorry for arriving late to the game, but was just curious, what was the original pin weight issue? And it's also great to hear that Keystone is standing behind this issue, always good to hear info like that!

this is true, but again, they can fab new sides and the related parts to accomplish this. Seems to me this is the best win/win scenerio so that you get to keep the trailer with the options you want and the pin weight is compensated, and they don't have to junk this trailer and lose the money.
