Just got back from Millersburg, Indiana after picking up our HTT.
Since purchase we've had issues with our front bunk leaking while towing in the rain. Set up or sitting closed up she was as water tight as a frog's rear.
Our camper had visited our dealer's service department MANY times. The last time we took it in they installed the "fix kit" Forest River had sent them. After that install, it actually leaked worse.
After fixing, Forest River's service center sprayed it down several days in a row and I sprayed the heck out of it when I got back - not a single drop inside now(:
The real test will be when towing in the rain. I'm not sure a hose can replicate towing @ 65 in the rain. We're heading out 7/29 for a 12 night trip to PA and NY. It never fails to rain on the day we're packing up and leaving so when I get home I'll be able to update.
I know this post is quite long, but I've read several threads of OTHER companies working on TTs post warranty... maybe there are ones I've missed but I don't remember reading one from Forest River... props to Forest River on this one!
I took a bunch of pix - didn't know what would be helpful or what ppl would be interested in seeing. If you click a pic it will take you to the album with previous pix of the front bunk and seals.
These first 2 pics are bottom left corner

Left portion of front bunk - that black seal is now one piece - from the factory it was 2 (vertical and horizontal). It now extends all the way to the bottom whereas before it was at least an inch or 2 short

Bottom right corner - I noticed not only did they go right to the bottom but there is a bit of overlap

This is bottom right corner - took the pic to show the black seal IN the rubber dam which I didn't have from the factory or post "fix kit"

Right portion of bunk - again that rubber seal going across and down is now all one piece

Bottom right corner - my gap between the hinge and frame is much smaller now

Obviously the front - interesting that they replaced my locks when the service center had it. Also, the bunk support wires/washer were resealed with that tacky gum stuff

Bottom left corner - gap is much smaller between frame and piano hinge

Stuck my finger in to show the gap - present on left and right sides but not the top - post "fix kit" the white seal was here

The next 2 are different views of bottom right corner - took to show space - that black dot in first pic is some rubber seal that stuck to some glue

Bottom left corner looking up to show the gap

That's great that they fixed your leak. So it was that gap between the seals causing the problem. Who did you talk to at forest river? I'd like to find out about fixing the leak I am having in the same place. I've tried to fix mine myself by filling the gap with piece of flat armaflex with a self adhesive backing. If they can offer something better that would be great.
Was your water coming in and covering that ledge on the inside where the bunk mounts? Mine gets through the gap up onto that shelf & even runs across the bunk door along the big rubber interior gasket.

I dealt with Gregg Rollins (grollins@forestriverinc.com 574-642-2640 ext 225) who is the warranty guy for the Roo/Shamrock HTT's.
On my HTT, I believe water was coming in the space between the hinge and the frame, over/around the black rubber dam, and onto the bed platform/front cabinet. After my dealer installed the "fix kit" there was so much water it was actually traveling down the wall inside the cabinet and pooling on the floor.

It looks the frame has counter-sunk flat head screws. Mine has the button top ones and they touch the trim around the bunk door and I wonder if that is causing any leakage. My trailer (bought used) has some evidence of water intrusion but I've never towed it in the rain so I don't know how bad it leaks then but washing it I can find a little bit at the lower corners so I bet it leaks pretty bad.
Seems like they would come up with something that would cover the hinge/gap area when the bunk is stowed.
I might have to contact FR and see what they say about my trailer.

That is exactly what I was talking about. Thanks for the contact info.

I just had the repair done by my local dealer in Mpls, Niemeyers. I'm hoping they got it done right. I have the new black seal on the front and I also have a new white rubber seal around the outside ledge of the front bunk where the ledge seals up to the camper when closed. I seem to have water now inside this new white rubber seal after every rain when I pack up the front bunk. Not sure if that's good/bad or correct/incorrect. Anyone else have this after the repair?
I was happy with FR's response. My two year warranty expired in March but they covered the repair and parts which my dealer did in June.
Here's who I had contact with at FR:

D - thanks for this...so your fix does not include the new outter seal...you are showing a gap when your new door is closed, is this on the top also? Is this gap also on the top and if so, did they put in a better gutter? All in all, it looks like a lot of work went into ensuring the seals were of proper length...could that be it?
Based on my epexiernce with these seals and there poor adhesive, I would suspect this would be an ongoing maintenance/watch item.
thanks again for sharing!

Now the hinge is mounted to the outside? I just did my bunk end with instructions from Forest River & the hinge is mounted the same way it came from the factory. I guess as long as it does not leak....its all that matters.

i'm getting my Roo 23SS back next week. i also had the retrofit kit and new bunk door installed.
but i haven't had any leaks nor was the bunk door bad. FR just decided to send a new bunk door also, just in case something was found.
i decided to have the retrofit done, while still under warranty. but i'm a little leery that i may now have leaks since the fix was done.
