She is alive to talk about it, maybe she has learned to respect an animal's space. In their defense, urban folks are often ignorant of animal behavior, but Yellowstone does have signs.

All large herbivores are dangerous, especially herd animals when alone. In the herd they may just watch you, unless defending the herd. People who didn't know what they were doing have been killed by frightened sheep moving in a mass.

After all these years you would think people would heed the warnings. But, no they just have to get closer. I guess they watch the TV too much and just can't comprehend the real dangers. Over the years I've watched them feeding the bears, trying to take pictures of people with their backs to the bears, "stalking" a moose trying to get a good picture. The list of stupid stunts goes on and on.

She & her family must have been from up here in the Northeast someplace......most folks around here think they can do whatever they want...........

I'll quote Forrest Gump here, "Stupid is as stupid does."

My last trip to YNP was in September - mating season. I got into the beginnings of an "animal jam". When I looked over, there was a huge male elk about 5 feet off the road, facing away from it. Some Bozo decided he wanted a picture of the elk's head. When I saw him, he had the camera up to his face and was about 3 feet away. I didn't stay to watch, but whatever happened to him, he had coming.
For those that haven't yet been there, spring is baby season - don't mess with Momma. She's very protective. Fall is mating season - don't mess with Pappa. He's very, uh, eager. Buy a telephoto lens and live to take many more pictures.

Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

Whoever threw the stick at the animal deserved all he/she got. They should be arrested!

I agree, and since Yellowstone is a National Park, I'm sure there is a huge fine for things like this. I certainly hope so!

We were just there in June and saw lots of bison, all of them minding their own business, even with crowds of people nearby. The one in this video seemed to be doing just that until someone hit him with that object. He didn't like that and took the appropriate action!
Good for him!

There is indeed a "Fix" for stupid.

you can read all about many stupid's who have had the "Fix" applied to them

One of my favorites is, in my opinion, mis-titled.

It is called "Living on Zionest time"

You see..... They did not.

I saw her movie she was recording & said the exact same remark. Its amazing how folks keep the EMT's and LEO's busy! If not for dumb we'd have less in those fields, You can only shake your head. or go farther and I'm sure glad I'm retired.

We were there in June and while stopped next to a small heard walking on the side of the road. Everyone rolled down their windows for a good photo. this was the first bunch up close with babies. All I did was say to my kids in the truck, "Look kids, babies!" It must've been too loud. A big old bull who was "ridin shotgun" along the road protecting the babies, charged right over to my door. I thought he was going to hit the truck, but didn't. Imagine if I was standing there with my camera?
