Our toy poodle has some curious behaviors but one was particularly amusing. We were fishing off a pontoon boat, every time a fish jumped she would run to the rail and stare at the rings in the water. Maybe she thought it was her tennis ball.

Our dogs love (hate?) Prairie Dogs. They go absolutely nuts and make noises that I never hear out of them any other time.

My French Bulldog Sophie, LOVES to chase and eat frogs. It's so gross, to see her foaming at the mouth. My DH says she looks like an add for "Got Milk".

My formerly feral house-lynx, Mike, loves our local wildlife, specifically the ginormous desert cockroaches. They're an outdoor animal primarily but will come inside... looking for water, mostly. We had some weak points in our defenses this spring and had a small invasion, which just thrilled Mike.

One thing I learned was that he can smell them if they're behind something or in a closet, he'd sit outside waiting and refuse to leave until I ran him off or flushed it out for him. Useful, actually... the invaders were vanquished. But the gross thing is he doesn't actually eat the whole bug when he finally plays it to death. He kind of leaves the shells like on a shrimp. Not that fun to find but definitely better than having them set up housekeeping!

I know this is rather typical but my King Charles(Mollie) loves chasing any shinny reflection on the ground. One way I get her to run around a bit is to use a Lazer pointer on the floor..it drives her nuts.

Our two little chi mixes are currently in training as bird dogs. Last week's really hot weather made a bunch of baby birds bail out of their bird houses too early to fly. No problem, they just took up residence like a flock of quail, in and among our cactus and desert plants. They camouflage really well, too, but our dogs are intent on finding them. We can tell when they're getting warm because the parent birds will start yelling down from the tree. We call the dogs off and bring them in the house when they get too close. I'll be glad when the birds stop this year's production line. I think we've had 6 different crops since early spring.

Sitting on our deck one afternoon, Haylie started staring and growling at one of the plastic deck chairs. Her hair was actually standing up on her back. No idea why she did this, maybe because it wasn't in its usual place. And another time we installed a flood-light on the house... Haylie wouldn't stop staring at it for days. She's quite observant! Nope, she was staring at the ghost/guest sitting in the chair. Our dogs and occasionally, even our cat, see apparitions from time to time. Maybe they're our old pets, stopping for a visit to see how we're doing? Once in awhile, one of them requires chasing.

We made a month long western trip a few years ago. One of the campgrounds we stayed one night at (wish I remembered where) had rabbits of every shape and color running everywhere. Our ACD Emily so wanted to chase them, she was so upset that we would not allow it.
