During our recent camping trip we noticed 2 problems. Problem 1: We were having problems with regulating the air conditioning. We would set the Dometic thermostat on 75 and our temperature in the camper was 68. This is ok on the hot days but at night it was freezing. Then we would back off the thermostat until it would shut off. Then, it was too hot. Has anyone tried a digital thermostat & what kind did you use? Will this help? Problem 2: We use RV Trine Dry in our blackwater holding tank. We followed the directions of putting 1 packet to 2 gallons of water. After 24 hours of using the toilet by 4 adults it smelled really bad. The box says it will last 72 hours (well it didn't last 24 hours). What are we doing wrong & is this the right product to use? Our dealer told us this is the best to use & the blue fluid is being disallowed because it kills the enzymes in the dump stations. Please Help!!!!

I have a new 2011, 23SS Roo and noticed the A/C was really cold at night too. I turned it up a little to about 75, was still kicking on, but just used the heated mattress and all was good. Not sure what year you have, but try using the heated mattresses they actually work fairly well.

As for the toilet issue, don't know. I use the orange stuff you can get at Walmart and that seemed to work pretty good. Though it was just me when I took mine out for the first time a couple weeks ago.

*EDIT*

As for the digital thermostat, I think I saw in the Post Your Mods section where a couple people had switched out the thermostat for a digital one. Not sure what kind they used or if it had any effect.

I just turn the temp down and turn the fan on low at night. Works for us.

You can do a search for the Hunter Digital Thermostadt modification and find quite a bit of helpful information. The Hunter units seem to be quite a bit more accurate. Some here will tell you the factory tstadt isn't much more than an "On/Off" switch. Odorlos is a good product to use and doesn't contain any formaldehyde and is good for septics as well. The Orange stuff you get at Walmart is cheap and will also do the job. I have used both and have never had a problem with any bathroom "funk".

Switch to a digital thermostat. Simple job and it is probably the most popular mod listed on the forum. Do a search. I've never heard of the toilet stuff you mention but there are lots of good products on the market that work. I can't remember what I have in the Roo now but it is not formaldehyde based.

i got a digital Honeywell thermo and installed it. works much better than the cheap analog one. the Hunter is the most popular and they have one with a remote, now.

we have used Odorlos since we first got our Roo and have never had odor issues.
but we always keep at least 5 gallons of water in the black tank, along with the Odorlos.
i've never heard of the additive you are using.

1. Fitting a digital thermostat will tighten the temperature fluctuation inside to a 2° band. Plus 1° the AC will turn ON, Minus 1° the AC will turn OFF. Set it for 75° and the temperature will vary from 74° to 76°.

Furnace functions the same way. The Hunter is the near defacto model due to the efforts of our moderator a few years ago. Several photo essays on it, just use the search function. My photos show Roo-specific wiring of this inexpensive unit.

Keep in mind these trailers are not insulated at all in the tent ends.

2. Your dealer is spot on about not using the Blue Stuff in the toilet although I've never seen it banned anywhere.

Get a bottle of Odorlos(tm) and treat your tanks with it per the instructions. I've been using it since my sailboat days and we only pumped out a few times a season. I currently use Odorlos plus an enzyme in our tanks. Last dumped them in November. OK, we only used the trailer one weekend so far this year, but we're less than half full and no odor. There is no need to dump every weekend and anecdotal evidence shows me that letting nature work on the tank reduces everything to an easily dumped slurry.

If you previously poisoned the tank with anything Blue it may take a while to rid the system of poisons and let the enzymes (natural and added) work while Odorlos keeps them on life support. The tank will stink if it turns septic. Odorlos prevents this.

Turn the bathroom fan OFF before flushing the toilet. No point in sucking toilet gasses up into the trailer.

There is, but I'm days away from my camper. Just ensure there are no poisons in it. I've been using a liquid. Shake and use a couple of cap-fulls, no more for this one.
