I've noticed several posts where people comment that it's super easy to change your own oil on the Ford V-10 and that they do it themselves at home.
So, I crawled under the motorhome today to take a look. The drain plug is right above the axle and so is the filter. I don't see any way this is going to happen without making a splattered mess in my driveway.
Am I missing something here?

The oil change tech in the Quick Lane at my local Ford dealer complains about that too. He hates it when a Ford A-gasser comes in.
You need a really big catch pan, and for sure you are going to get oil on you.

Oh c'mon! With the front jacks down almost lifting the tires off the ground, the drain pan goes on top of my axle, and there's still room to work... This is as easy as it gets.

Fumoto valve with a nipple, and you can drain it right into a jug. The filter's still a little messy but you can poke hole in it and catch most of it in a funnel before you spin it off.

I use a piece of cardboard to direct the oil to a drain pan. The one around a case of beer is about the right size.

They said it was easy, and it is, nothing was said about messy.
I cut a liter bottle length ways and put that over axle so the oil runs over it, and it helps some. Like others said, you need a BIG container.

As mentioned above, front jacks down, drain pan slides in on top of axle and anti sway bar. Sits there just fine, with plenty of room to remove drain plug & filter.

As jeep2relax says; jacks down till it raises the front about 3 inches and the drain pan sits on the axle and sway bar. Plenty of room to remove the drain plug and after it drains and the plug replaced slide the pan over a little and it catches the filter. Been there, done that!

It don't get any better than this. And you don't have to clean the pan or haul it around.
