I wouldn't worry too much, but if you really want to do something.. Do something a little out of the ordinary... Make a churn of ice cream... (just make your DS's favorite flavor)... Dutch oven brownies (from mix)..

neither are difficult or take lots of effort... and are almost always a big hit..I made brownies at a Cub Scout training.. and everyone that was on the entire camp wandered by to see what that wonderful smell was..

If they are from Texas they are not looking for a return meal just being friendly and that is a good thing. Enjoy your new friends.

I don't think they are looking for anything in return. It sounds like they are just really nice people. And if you want to return the favor next time you go take a few extra hamburgers or hot dogs and if they are there you can invite them over. Or like other suggested invite them over for dessert. We like to make S'mores. It is always fun with a crowd.

Easy peasy. Invite them for grilled burgers and hot dogs with the works, baked beans and salad. It's not the food, it's the company. (and not having to prepare a meal for one night)

You really should invite them back and I second Iris' idea. It's not anything to stress yourself about.

No one wants return of the hospitality extended. What best you can do is to find out about something which the whole family likes. A bottle of wine and a bouquet would be a good idea.

I agree with the previous poster who just said to invite them over to share whatever it is your already cooking. I love love love not having to cook..any night not having to cook or clean dishes is a good night
