My DH is an avid reader and I would like to buy him one of these e-readers for his birthday. I would sure appreciate your thoughts for and against either the Kindle or the Nook - which would you suggest is the best?????? Thanks.

I have a Kindle and enjoy it greatly. However I suspect I would enjoy a Nook-e just as much. Got my Kindle this past Christmas and have since read about 65 books on it. Thought I would miss the feel and smell of paper but since Christmas I have read two paper books. I now, only read paper, if a Kindle version of a book I want to read isn't available. I think it is the concept of the e-reader, I enjoy so much, not the particular brand that I have.

After doing my own research I opted for the Kindle and am very happy with it. My granddaughter is getting one for her 12th birthday. Her parents love how much she enjoys reading mine. They will share an account with me and we'll be able to share books. Her mom, my daughter, wants one for Christmas also!

I bought my wife a Nook for last Christmas.........she likes having Barnes and Nobles Brick and mortar stores to go into with her Nook.......they have in store content and specials when you bring the Nook in.......she also likes having the touch/color screen at the bottom.......something the kindle doesn't have.....

I downloaded the free Kindle app for my Droid cell phone and loved it so much, so I got a Kindle reading device and was somewhat disappointed. My Droid connects easily to the Amazon website to view and buy books, and download books whereas the Kindle is limited to the satelite reception of their service provider (AT&T). You can, however, download the books to your computer then transfer the books to your Kindle by USB cable. Turning pages on the droid is effortless, and it's easier to hold than the Kindle. If I had to do it again, I'd would stick with downloading to your smartphone.
