They already did. When you paid for the site. you paid for the shower. End of story. Find that verbiage in the agreement
When it says "Hot Showers" in the advertisement, and then in "Rates" gives the nightly site cost. That is really all I need. Personally I won't stay in a CG with pay showers, and fortunately. In NC. CG owner's are not that greedy, and know. If they do stupid stuff like that. Campers will just go to the next CG on the next corner. For in the NC mountains. There seems to be a CG evry where you look.

It cost money to make hot water and when it is free people use more then they would if they where paying to heat the water. It cost money to keep the shower maintained and clean. If you have an RV you have a shower, It's your choice, use what you paid for or pay a little extra.

I stay at both types, quarter showers and freebies. Give me the quarters. The freebies seem to attract the 'I'll only be a minute' that turns into an hour. And because folks seem to linger longer, they don't seem to care about cleaning up after themselves. I have one place I stay I've been trying to convince them to put in the meters.

No problem at all, as long as they are clean and work properly. Can be a good water conservation tool. I've learned that 4 minutes is a long time. Colorado state parks, at least the ones I've stayed in, have pay showers and they're very nice. Some parks give up to 8 minutes of water for a quarter. That's a very long, hot shower. Pay showers often show less abuse as well.
As an aside, I always carry several old film canisters filled with quarters for a variety of needs. This is one of them....and laundry,of course.

I first and only experienced the pay showers in Canada. After walking a long way with all my bathing supplies to the bath house, I had everything but loonies and the office was closed. I had spent all my loonies in the laundry room. Personally, it was just another example of gouging customers at every turn, trying to get deeper into our pockets. I resented it. After paying $42.50 for the site and spending $16 in the laundry, one would think a shower would be gratis.

After having 2 girls that took 20 minute showers, it seems fair to me.

Actually, I find my showers are longer if I have to put the quarter in - I'll make sure I get my money's worth. Free showers, I can be in, washed (including hair) in 2-3 minutes (I'm female), if I'm paying, I stay for the whole damn time.
Luckily we now have our own shower, it's not an issue.

May be acceptable at a very very low end campground that is very cheap. It may be necessary at state parks and the like where there is the likelyhood of people other than campground guests using them, otherwise it is extremely tacky and it reeks of cheesy. If I ever have to go to pay showers to make money in the campground business, I'm selling. Timers and coin operated controls are for laundromats and car washes, not RV park showers.

Wow! I can't quite get past the $42-60/night and coin-operated showers. I've used coin operated showers at National parks and state parks where I'm paying less that $22/night. But if I were paying that much I'd darn sure want to take a shower without hauling a bag full of quarters.
