We're headed to NS & PEI in late August. Are there places where one can purchase cooked lobsters to carry-out? And, if so, approximately what is the cost? We'll be in Pugwash, Antigonish, Baddeck and plan to circle PEI. We have a dog, so it's hard to go to restaurants.

I just did a Google search & found this place:

Click

Try entering some PEI place names (I used Rustico) & "take out" for your search. I'm sure more will turn up.

In '75 we were in North Rustico camping. I know we went out for lobster dinner, but don't recall where we ate.

In PEI- Just about every place that sells fresh sea food sells it both raw and cooked. In 2004 and 2007 the price was $7.95 a pound. Could be a little higher this year.

Fulltimers. No more grass to cut, no more leaves to rake, and can move if we don't like our neighbors.

States we spent time in, drive throughs not marked.

The larger grocery stores (Sobey's) (Super Value) etc will cook them as you wait or you can get freshly cooked from the refrigerated display case.
Small market size lobsters are your best buy. Enjoy your trip.
Is there any other information you need?

Cheers

Thanks to all of you! My mouth is already watering, but I'll have to wait another month until I can feast on succulent lobster!

Guess what McDonalds has there.

Why a McLobster, of course. We saw that while we were there on a tour last week but I never had a chance to try one.

My personal opinion is that Lobster is over rated. I would much prefer to have a good fish filet or a nice order of Jumbo shrimp, Yummy, Yummy. I had a baked salmon dinner and a haddock dinner that were both the best I have ever eaten. They both put the Lobster I had to shame.

I visit PEI every year since my Dad lives there. And I always bring lobster back with me. I always get my cooked lobster at this place.

I generally drop in the day before and ask them to cook what I want. But you could always call and see if they've got any on hand. Nice family run operation.

I've also gotten them here...

Have fun in PEI!

When we went up that way a few years back my daughter had lobster from the roadside stand for 9 straight meals, (including breakfast). The next night she said no. To this day she can't understand why she said no. Drenched in enough melted butter anything will go down and taste good but lobster sure beats the others.

As has been said, most grocery stores carry cooked lobster. You may also get a deal from a fisherman selling from the back of his truck. The low prices in recent years have forced many fishermen to get peddlers licenses and to start selling directly to consumers.
Have fun on the Island.
