I have a 2001 Trail Lite Bantam B23s that has had a leakage problem along the bottom edge of the front fold down. I've applied sealant twice to close up the edge between the metal and the laminate. It has progressed to having the wood rot several inches wide along the whole bottom, and delamination on the outside. The rest of the wood is solid, just that edge is a problem. I have thought about replacing the wood, but all the metal corners are welded. It looks like the only solution would be to replace the fold down entirely. Since it just has a piano hinge with many screws mounting it to the camper, it looks like a fairly simple swap out. Except I cannot find anyplace that has the fold outs to sell.
Anyone else experience this problem, and how did you fix it?

this has happened to some hybrid owners, regardless of brand.
i suggest you check out R-Vision Camping Club's website. lots of Trail Lite owners there that may have had the same issues.
most have purchased a replacement door from the manufacturer. but as old as yours is, i doubt that they have one that fits but it can't hurt to call.

We have the same problem. It only happens when the bed is closed. What we did is taped some heavy duty clear vinyl with wide clear book tape over the hinge area. It needs to be taped both top and bottom because if you travel in the rain, the wind can blow it up. Actually this was some of the worst leakage, because you are heading into the rain which forces it into the hinge area. You don't have to remove it to fold down the bed although we do tape the sides for the winter which has to be removed. It's a cheap fix that is not easily noticed, and when the bed is down, you can't see it at all.

hybrid233 wrote: Well folks, I finally got around to fixing my front bunk door. I got the kit from Forest River No Charge. My Shamrock was well out of warranty so getting the channel, hinge & new type seals for the asking was great. I only noticed the staples on the bottom of the door starting to rust so that was the giveaway. I neverhad any water inside the trailer, but the door sucked up water like a spounge.
Here are the damage & the repair pic's

I'm happy with the way it turned out. Now waiting for the rain test
